It was really funny. I heard a song on the radio the other day and I had no idea of the name or group of the song. It sounded like Sting, so I went to the Itunes music store to see if I could find the song name. I listened to all the samples from the recent Sting album and none of them were the song I was looking for.
Yesterday I was listening to a streaming music station and I heard the song again - from a group called Coldplay. Never heard of them. But I swear they sounded like Sting singing the song "Clocks."
I did a search for Coldplay and Sting and it appears that a lot of people think Coldplay sounds like Sting. The band, for their part said they don't understand how anyone can say they sound like Sting. Listen to Clocks and decide for yourself.

I was a fan of The Police but as far as Sting's solo albums, the stuff he did 15 years ago and the stuff he does today sound exactly the same to me.
I guess you don't keep up with the news, but Chris Martin, the singer for ColdPlay, is the guy who knocked up Gwyneth Paltrow and had to marry her last month.

The difference between Coldplay and Sting is that I like Coldplay's music. There...I said it.

Sting has been putting out shit ever since he left the Police. "free, free, set them free". Give me Roxanne, Every breath you take, and Message in a Bottle anyday.....

I have never really been a big Sting fan, but Ten Summoner's Tales was fantastic.

Sting is a sellout (doing a commercial for jaguar - a car that most of his fans cannot afford). How much more money does he need?

sting is on tour in america to support his new cd.. as far as coldplay/sting comparisons.. i think coldplay sounds more like radiohead or travis, other brit pop bands.. saw them live twice in hollywood, great live set, lots of energy.. good overall show...

Since Radioheads "OK Computer" was released, there have been numerous copycat bands and Coldplay just happens to be the band that does it with pop sensibilities. Nobody can really match up with Radiohead whom I think is the greatest band in the world right now and has been for a while.

blazers, we probably need to hang out sometime... i saw radiohead three times in sept, (twice in hollywood, once in san diego)... and , yes, i consider them the greatest live band in the world....rumor has it that radiohead and the pixies will headline the coachella festival (in indio, california) may 1-3 , 2004.. if you need any info on b sides, live recordings, covers, or rarities on radiohead, email me on this site...

Evanescence is the best band around right now. They simply ROCK!!!!
By Blazers on Thursday, January 08, 2004 - 09:24 pm: Edit |
Evanescense has brought a breath of fresh air to a music industry that has nothing but crap right now. Most of the great music never gets noticed. Be that as it may, Radiohead is in their own stratosphere for creativity and innovation in music. Actually my vote for album of the year goes to Outkast.....fuckin' brilliant.

The guy from Maroon 5 has a better voice. And that's saying a LOT.
