LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Seafood restaurant chain McCormick & Schmick's has settled a lawsuit brought by a California woman who said she suffered severe emotional distress after she discovered a condom in her clam chowder, a company spokesman says.

The settlement Monday was reached the day the Portland, Oregon-based chain was to go to trial in Santa Ana, California. The settlement terms are confidential.

That's why so many of these suits are filed. What do you have to lose when corporate America considers settlements " the price of doing business ".

I'm gonna bring a big dead cockroach to Spagos tonight and make enough to support my next 10 mongering trips !!!!

This is such BS. A good reason why so many people dislike lawyers and the judges/juries who let them get away with this sort of stuff. What do you bet the woman is butt ugly and probably hates men? The last condom she saw was in high school in the parking lot and it wasn't used by/in her. And she's been mad about that the rest of her life.

As a side note, I once had several small retail businesses. The WORSE customers were white collar women. Virtually every complaint was from this group. Bitch, bitch, bitch. No matter what you did it wasn't enough. Eventually you realized that they weren't in the store for what you sold but were looking for a rug to walk over.
