San Antonio, TX, May 20 - "We know that there is sodium cyanide missing from Mexico. We don't know where it's current location is," Capt. Mike Walsh, San Antonio Police Dept.

Where is the massive amount of Cyanide, could it be headed to South Texas? San Antonio emergency workers plan for the worst as police search for nearly 10-tons of the deadly poison stolen off a truck in Mexico. It's enough cyanide to wipe out a city and authorities don't know where it is or who has the cyanide Saturday night.

It looks like cloudy water and if it were sodium cyanide just seven drops could kill you.

"Not being able to breathe, confused, disoriented, hallucinating maybe having seizures," said
Dr. Fernando Guerra, Dir. of Public Health.

The missing cyanide is in liquid form worst case scenario it could be pumped into our water or food supply. Contact with the skin will cause itching and burning. That's why firefighters on San Antonio's hazmat team would wear moon suits in case of exposure.

"Unfortunately we do have people out there that are trying to hurt us right now. We're gonna do everything that we can to prevent that from happening," said Capt. Mike Walsh, Hazardous Materials.

Police don't know who stole the cyanide or if the thieves even know what's inside the drums. But they do know it took a great deal of effort to unload 83 barrels weighing nearly 10 tons.

"It really became a matter of tremendously important public health interest," said Dr. Guerra.

For that reason, every hospital and doctor in San Antonio is watching for the symptoms of cyanide poisoning.

News 4 San Antonio has obtained an alert sent to all doctors from the Texas Department of Health and the Bexar County Medical Association, warning them of the missing cyanide.

But it also says the FBI has no evidence that the chemical is destined for Texas or that it will be used for terrorism.
