This is kind of disingenous seeing that some of the slums in Dublin like Barrytown and Holyfield, prostitution while not legal is not illegal (but immoral by the Catholic church, natch) much like in mexico, also a staunchly catholic nation. Go into any of the Dublin "ghetto pubs" in these slums and you can get all the action you need.
Reading the article, what it seemed to be saying is that we shouldn't allow sex to become a "big industry", we shouldn't allow it to become mainstream.
God created whisky to keep the Irish from ruling the world. Apparently he didn't make enough of it to keep the Irish from assuming the presidency of the EU.
Another attempt at the religious right (and I mean the religious right, they Irish religious fanatics make the christian conservatives here look like party animals) to marginalize sex.
They even brought in an American religious conservative lap-dog to parrot the right wing view of "gentlemens entertainment".
What is scary about this is that this is same view of our administration.
If you thought Dubya was dangerous and fanatical about war and Homeland Security the last 3 years. Just wait until he gets another four years and doesn't have to fight several wars or an an economy. He and the neo-cons will set their sight on a social conservative agenda so scary, we will only wish to bring back the good ol' days of chasing Saddam and Osama. If you thought the taliban went overboard just wait.
