I have purchased about 20 different cards to call Latin America and have finally found an excellent card. It is called "La Esmeralda" and gives me 350 minutes to Colombia for $10.00. It is available from www.pinonsale.com

I have not had a busy signal or dropped call and I have burned up 5 cards so far....

I´ve been able to find such cards in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. The Argentine ones were the best buy, the Brazilian the worst, but still better than regular rates.

This card is a total ripoff - do not use this card. It charges 99cent daily fee, best I can tell. See my reports on best card options - SuperQuick card is the best IMO.

Well, I went looking to update my posts on best international calling card, and I can't find them!

Anyway, the best in the market today appears to be the SuperQuick card, and you can find it at www.uniontelecard.com. There are no hidden fees, none at all! And the rates (to S. American) are as low as you'll find in a card with no fees.

I've been using it for over a month, so I've had sufficient time to judge it.

On the internet, there are tons of them. I used to get cards that I used to both call to Brasil and to call from Brasil. Make sure to check out the terms, some had lots of fees, while others may have a higher cost per minute and no fees.

Scooby, does she have access to the internet? The new MSN Messanger has a voice option and its free. I used it with my novia yesterday and it worked like a charm.

If you are online all day from work, then she can just go to an internet cafe and use it there and have a good chance of catching you.

Scoob, you might be better off having her call you on a cell phone. Then you call her back. It's a lot easier buying a calling card to be used from the US. I use this one http://www.zscomm.com/super-quick.htm.

She is not computer literate and knows practicly nothing about pc's. She lives with her mom & dad and is very, very poor. I have been to her house and met her family several times. Her house is like the shotgun houses in New Orleans where all the rooms are lined up one after the other but made of red brick. Also the toilet is in the corner of the kitchen seperated by only by a curtain its pretty nasty. But it is clean, everthing is old and in poor shape but spotless. I bought her the first TV she or her family has ever owned in their lifes. I have five and its hard to comprehend someone never having one. So no she does not have a computer. Im suprised they have a phone.

Unless you have visited the poorer Barrios its very hard for us to comprehend the poverty in Medellin. Oh yeah we see the red brick run down shacks from the metro going by a 70 miles an hour. But how many of us has taken the time to visit the poorest barrios. I have and it would break your heart to see how some of these people live. I don't recomend you going there unless your with someone from there.

Sorry I got on the soapbox, no she does not have a pc. I justneed the name of a phone card that I can send to her so she can call me in Calif from Colombia.. NOT for me to call her..
