I know there is another discussion about file sharing programs. I am wondering which ones seem to work well for Porn specific downloading. Also, which ones seem to invade your system the least (I.E. no spyware).

Download 'Spybot' from www.security.kolla.de

Its free and removes all spyware from your system. Couple that with Virus scanning programs and you can download from any site you want and not worry about anything being planted on your machine.

Once you download and run it for the first time, you might get surprised and notice spyware already on your machine.

With "Spyware" download until your heart is content...

I've never picked up anything on a file sharing site but I have also stayed a long ways from places like Kazaa which is/was famous for loading your computer with crap. I'm not sure you can even pick up anything downloading a shared file unless it is an exe or similar type.

WinMx is fantastic for music but worthless for porn movies. Edonkey/Emule are worthless for music but decent for porn movies if you don't mind waiting forever and a day. Looking for porn pictures on file sharing sites is not worth it. If you do look for porn on these sites avoid anything that lists a long string of names because these are always links to pay porn sites of the worse kind.

On searching for porn in general make darn sure you have a strong firewall and virus protection software. And it is a good idea to have an equally powerful pop up window killer. Anything that takes you to Russia is asking for trouble. Expect your computer to crash at the very least and the odds of getting hit with some virus is extremely high. It is probably best to find some "daily list" sites that you like and just work through them. There are also sites that review pay sites and usually give you some freebie pictures from the pay sites so you can see what is there. Pay sites that are chinzie with their teaser pictures ("actual member pictures are much larger and have excellent resolution") are to be avoided. If you decide to join a pay site make sure to first check their "contact" links. The honest sites will have a strong policy of how they charge you and how to end your membership.

Forgot to mention .. in addition to downloading Spybot, make sure to establish a new e-mail address. You will have to specify an e-mail address when accessing these porno sites, which will result in hundreds of spam e-mails being generated. This way they go to your alternate e-mail address and you do not have to worry about it.

Kazaa loads your machine with crap. I have the older version which allows the stuff to be removed with Spybot, but they try to make you upgrade to the newer version. The new version no longer works if you use Spybot to remove all of the spyware. I solved this by uninstalling the new version and keeping the old.

I highly recommend Spybot....its free & the best spyware & pop-up preventer out there.

Tight Fit - For clarification purposes: I meant to say that Kazza's own software loads your machine with spyware and pop-up advertising, not the downloaded files.

I think I only had one issue with a virus being loaded on my machine when I downloaded software (i.e. an .exe file) from Kazaa. So far never had any issues with porno or music.

I've been downloading porn from the same place since 1993. Usenet newsgroups.

For high speed access, Cox cable has excellent coverage of the alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.* and alt.binaries.multimedia.* newsgroups on their nntp servers.

It's funny how so often events in one place suddenly match those in another. Here we have a discussion about finding porn safely on the Internet and protecting our computers. OK, today I was doing some housecleaning and came across a box filled with old porn video tapes. This is stuff from the late 80s. It suddenly hit me that there must be a way to covert it to something that will work on my computer and then burn it to a DVD.

A quick search and I learned that I already had everything I needed. A TV program/card turned out to also be able to record other outside video sources. And in about 12 different formats from mpeg 1 & 2, 3 kinds of a AVIs, and a bunch of formats that are apparently for recording 24/7 surveilance cameras. Once I recorded the tapes onto my hard drive, did a bit of editing to remove the junkie parts, it was time to start burning the information onto some blank DVDs.

Now I can toss the old tapes out along with my VCR which is making strange sounds. Plus, I can now use editing software to run the videos at whatever speed I want including frame for frame. You know, for those "special moments". Haha. Just don't get anything on the keyboard because it just might short circuit something.

The only downside of all this is that the files you keep on the hard drive are absolute monsters. One format was quickly dumped when a 30 minute tape took 16GBs of space. I finally ended up with 1.5GBs for 30 minutes. Fortunately hard drives have dropped in price lately like a rock to the point where you can get a 120GB for under $50 now.

It was porn that took the infant video recorder industry and made it a part of nearly every home in our country and much of the world. It is porn that remains one of the few sources of consistent profit on the Internet.

Hi Sancho. I used to use the Usenet way back in the day for photos on dial up. They do have moviews, but they break them into little peices and it takes forever to download and re-rar them. But the main problem I have is finding a public NNTP server. Is the COX one public? I get my internet from the University, and we don't have an NNTP server.

Thanks for the help!

PS, good point Tight Fit, digital porn rules!

Where people are posting 800meg VCD's yes it takes a while to download them. Even on a cable modem. I just let it run overnight sometimes. Unraring is no big deal. Cox's news server is not public, it is just open to their cable modem subscribers but it is very fast and has very good binary coverage for an ISP's news server. There are also any number of subscription nntp servers out there. I doubt there are any free ones anymore that have good binary coverage.

Who remembers downloading gif's from bbs's at 2400Baud?

Thaimarauder--

You're probably going to have to purchase access to a usenet server that has all of the alt.* hierarchies, as cox offers usenet access as part of their broadband isp services. Newsguy I think provides that kind of access. You are also probably aware of the different freeware usenet readers out there like PowerGrab, which allow unattended downloading.

I agree it is a pain in the butt to reassemble files, but it seems to be a fairly reliable source for your needs. At least it is for mine.

Hope that helps.

A couple of years ago, I discovered mp3 versions of audiobooks on usenet. My provider could never manage to keep the binary groups stable, so most of the parts were missing -- I could see there were books there, but could not download them (sort of like standing outside a Therma, but not being able to go inside). I've since switched to a provide provider, easynews.com. For ten bucks, I get to download 6 gigs. I just checked out the erotic groups. Yowza. Thaimarauder, et. al., this is the answer to your prayers.
