This doesn't happen to me very often, but I was watching football this afternoon and saw a Volkswagen commercial featuring a pretty damned awesome acoustic guitar, muttered lyrics song -- my all-time favorite genre. A little 'net research and a WinMx search got Richard Buckner's "Ariel Ramirez" into Porker's power rotation for the afternoon. God bless the acoustic guitar. Well, and while we're at it, the internet too. I can't imagine what kind of hoops I'd have had to jump through just to FIND that song 10 years ago, much less pay to acquire it. Today it all took 15 minutes and it was all-inclusive in my Mexican dial-up internet connection.

As some of you know I like Brasilian music almost as much as the garotas. Well, maybe not quite almost as much, but at least alot. I previously posted about my addiction to Jorge Benjor (aka Jorge Ben and Jorge Ben Jor). I highly recommend the album Benjor (if the first song is Pega Ela de Montao, you got the right album), which is from his more recent funkier stage.
Previously, I knew that Trio Mocoto had backed up Jorge Benjor in the late 60's and early 70's, but the one album I know about from that era didn't impress me, at least based on hearing the highlights on one of FNAC's listening machines. Trio Mocoto got back together maybe five or six years ago, and I just got their latest album, Beleza! Beleza!! Beleza!!! I like it alot and recommend it highly to those of you who like what is sometimes called Samba Rock. I also got their previous album, Samba Rock, but on first listen don't care for it as much.
If any of you listen to either, tell us what you think.
