Well this is kind of funny.
Watch Ashlee (lil sis of Jessica Simpson) do a hoe down on SNL. The video with her trying to explain it at the end is even funnier, but this will have to do.

This just might be an incident Ashlee Simpson will want to omit from her autobiography.
The raven-haired popster was caught in a Milli Vanilli-esque moment during her performance on Saturday Night Live over the weekend.
As Simpson bopped around onstage at the start of her second performance of the night, her voice launched into "Pieces of Me," the song she had already played earlier in the show. Strangely, her microphone was nowhere near her mouth...which was closed.
Apparently dazed, Simpson peered desperately at her bandmembers, then broke into a bizarre, high-kicking jig before slinking off the stage in disgrace. Her band played on for several more moments before SNL cut to commercial

I've got to admit that I felt sorry for Ashlee . . . after I chuckled. I've been told that many singers use pre-recorded songs or lip synch when performing live, e.g., Madonna, Brittney Spears, Back Street Boys, etc. Unfortunately for Ashlee, she got caught doing it on LIVE television.
Ashlee shouldn't have walked off the stage. She should have recomposed herself, shut everything down, explain what happened and not blame the band, and start all over again. I guess that's easy for me to say since I would have probably done the same thing that Ashlee did. It would have been an embarassing and awkward moment for anyone.
The comparison to Milli Vanilli is a bit unfair. Milli Vanilli didn't even sing their own song. At least Ashee lip-synchs her own songs.
It'll be interesting to see how Ashlee re-bounds from this.

This is really weird because I've been to an SNL show and contrary to popular believe the show really isn't broadcast live. It's TAPED live, twice actually. They tape a rehersal at like 2pm and then the whole thing over again at like 4pm. I was under the impression that they would play the tape of the rehersal if something like this happens, but I guess not.
