Warning, I’m shaking with anger as I write this

I have just visited a museum in Phnom Penh. It was originally a high school, converted to a prison by the Khmer Rouge. The museum documents the appalling atrocities committed in the name of the “Revolution” by the KR against their own people. It made me think of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay. It makes me ill that MY GOVERNMENT is engaging in, if not in the same severity, the same activities. People that explain, excuse, or otherwise justify Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay are worse than naïve. The only moral response is outrage.

The Patriot Act. (a better name is the Fascist Act)
Memos defining torture.
Secret detention centers.
Abrogating the Geneva Conventions.

Terrorism has replaced Communism as the Boogeyman that the neo-con fascists trot out.

The “War on Terror” is turning into a step in the direction that anything is justified against your enemies. The Killing Fields of Cambodia is one of the darkest chapters in human history.

It is not a very long trip.
