As usual, I'm sorry to hear that, as you seem like a nice guy.

But again, some not so humble advice: Have you EVER considered NOT betting your 'unit' and just enjoying the games? Nobody here cares if you're right or wrong. Your mortgage, broker (Uhmmm, I HOPE, for your sake, it's not a BOOKIE!!!), howver...

And i bet Mavs to win series over Spurs to get back the 7 units.

Should be a walk in the park for the Mavs now.

Pistons going down in 3. U heard it here FA.

By Khun_mor on Saturday, May 27, 2006 - 04:23 pm:  Edit

As much as I want the Big Chubby to lose I cannot see the Heat going down in this game. Pistons looked pretty hopeless last game. I know they win the odd number games but that's just an oddity not something to bank on.

Good luck to ya FA I actually hope I'm wrong. I think you're getting into deep doo doo when you start with hopeless 4-5 game parlays and Arena - Euro Football.

By Don Marco on Saturday, May 27, 2006 - 09:50 pm:  Edit

Hate to say it, but I told you so FA. Heat are going to head to the finals vs the mavs.

KM, game 2 the pistons looked helpless? You see the same game I did?

By Khun_mor on Saturday, May 27, 2006 - 10:52 pm:  Edit

DM
I guess I did not convey what I meant. Pistons were damn lucky to win that game. Down the stretch they looked hopeless and blew a big lead without much of a fight in return. A couple of key plays let them sneak out of town with a split instead of down 0-2. I thought those last couple of minutes showed the handwriting on the wall for the Pistons who are lucky not to be watching the games in bars already .

By Khun_mor on Saturday, May 27, 2006 - 10:54 pm:  Edit

BTW I'll take the Heat and the Suns in the finals with the Suns taking it all.

FA, you are just throwing your money away at this point.

By Don Marco on Sunday, May 28, 2006 - 12:21 am:  Edit

Suns are a damn good team KM. I'm a dirk fan tho and I think if they loosen up with the bombs, then can rule. Yes, the pistons did let up towards the end there in game 2, but damn they had wade flustered and it showed. I agree, detroit should be exiting stage left soon. Neither the heat nor miami looks to match up well vs either the sun or mavs... we shall see.

Up to You !
It's only used as point of reference for rate of return. One dollar gets 1:1 -- 100 dollars multiply by 100 etc.

ok, like options, 1=100.

A unit is whatever an individual is comfertable with, keeping in mind my best bets are 11 units, so if someone`s largest bet on a best bet is $1100 then a unit would be $100, if your best bet is $110 then a unit is $10, and so on.

cough... I didn't :-)

now for the tough part... I had believed miami didnt match up well vs dallas, but dallas showed some major inconsistency. Now one could argue that it was caused by the sun's tempo. If so, miami's style suits dallas well. I'm going to be pulling for shaq/dwayne, but I think the dallas offense will overcome come them UNLESS Antwain heats up (i.e. don't think just shaq and dwayne are going to beat them). it's going to be close tho.

By Fooledagain1 on Monday, June 05, 2006 - 06:01 am:  Edit

Mavs are 1 of rare teams in history to outplay thier oppenents in every stat throughout entire regular season, to much balance, they can beat you in so many different ways.

Wade shot 61.7% , Shag 65.5%, Williams a carrer below 40% shooter, shot 54.8% against Pistons , unheard of high % that cannot be mantian over time, there`s only 1 way to go and that`s down.

Miami outshot Pistons 51.5 - 39.7 that`s 11.8 % but only out scored them by 5.1 points, that`s screaming at you telling you to beware, no way they outshot Dallas by anywhere close to that amount.

Look for the 3 players mentioned above to come back to earth and shot below their season ave. as this is very common. When Miami`s making shots at such a high rate they look like world beaters, and when they don`t they`ll look very average.

This is the perfect senerio for Dallas to dominate the series, don`t be surprised.

If they had even a decent backup it might still be possible but they have 2 total losers who haven't even played a minute in almost 2 months.

Oh -- except to flub a clearing pass and set up the game winning empty net goal - forgot about that quality time.

2006 NBA Finals --- Dallas vs Miami

Regular season stats

Dallas - 54.4 --- Mavs by 1
Miami - 53.4
Since 1974, the first year the league kept defensive stats , teams .75 or better have won series 17-3 (85%), including Detroit by 1.55 over Lakers in 2004.

Playoffs stats

Dallas - 55.41 --- Mavs by 1.8
Miami - 53.6

Miami has played about the same throughout playoffs as they did in regular season whereas Dallas has turned up their game quite a bit in playoffs and they did it against much better quality of oppenents than Miami played.

Miami`s 3 playoff oppenents ave 51.3 wins in regular season
Dallas 3 opponents ave 55.3 wins

Miami`s 3 playoff opponents had scoring differential of 2.87 pts in regular season
Dallas 3 opponents had 5.37 scoring differential

Miami`s 3 opp had regular season stats of 51.62
Dallas 3 opp 52.83

When you factor in that Miami`s best opponent, the Pistons, were a shadow of the team that went through regular season with the best record , Dallas looks even better.

Anyway you slice it, Mavs played better against better opponents, Don`t be surprised if Mavs dominate this series.

I put $300 on Germany to beat Costa Rica and $200 on England to beat Trinidad, f. units make no sense to me, my thinking is USA destroyed both teams so I would expect both Germany and England needing a win to win comfortably by at least 2 goals. And to my surprise I even got laid tonight in TJ.

Oilers need a win on Sat but they need a triple OT game to sap Carolina. Carolina started to look formidable as soon as they found their goalie vs Montreal. Obviously I am not very optimistic.

By Khun_mor on Thursday, June 08, 2006 - 11:52 am:  Edit

Soccer odds are horrible to deal with and you always have to worry about the friggin draw where both bets lose - unless you're dumb enough to have bet on a draw.

you're probably getting about $325 back on your $300 bet for Da Jhermans yavhol ??

Oilers totally quit in the first period of Wednesday's game and were out hustled, out hit, out everythinged the rest of the game. They may win one at home but not likely. Where in the world did this Cam Ward guy come from. He has made saves that would make ole Patty Roy envious .

By Athos on Thursday, June 08, 2006 - 05:51 pm:  Edit

Ward is a f. rookie...he beat Montreal by himself

No I consider soccer bets like a loan to caliente, lines had already moved by last night, i was shocked. I got -320 and -220 or something like that. I would put more but it is always a hassle at caliente to get money from them.

I have stopped gambling on nfl with too many losses. I'd rather be addicted to sex than to gambling.

2006 Arena Playoffs - Championship Game

Orlando (10-6) vs Chicago (7-9)

each teams record in regular season at winning the most important stats that correlate to winning Arena title

Orlando 33(wins)-15(loses) - (5 games better)
Chicago 28-21

playoffs and regular season

Orlando 37.5-16.5 - (5.75 games better)
Chicago 31.75-22.25

How did Chicago a 7-9 team get to Arena Bowl Championship Game ?

Well, let`s look at each teams opponents through the playoffs ;

Orlando`s opp.
Philly 27-22
Dallas 32-17

Chicago`s opp.
Nashville 23-25 (wild card game)
Colorado 18.5- 29.5 (Colorado had 2cd best record in league, was no.1 seed in conf. and was the defending champs)
San Jose 22.5-25.5 (no. 2 seed,won title in 2004)

Orlando`s 2 playoff opp. ave. 29.5 wins
Chicago`s 3 playoff opp. ave. 21.3 wins

Chicago a 7-9 team played the combination of 2 of the worst division winners maybe in the history of sports, that`s how they got to final.

Because both Colorado and San Jose both won titles and have plenty of experience everyone`s looking at Chicago as a good team, they`re not, the experience both those teams have gives you tremendous value to go against it, in otherwords on Orlando, and is why Orlando is only 2.5 to 3 pt fav. this point spread is way off because of the experience of those 2 teams which Chicago beat.

Experience tells you how good a team was in the years when they gained the experience, IT NEVER TELLS YOU HOW GOOD A TEAM IS THIS YEAR.

This game has blowout written all over it.

Hey, any sports that history shows the best teams win a good percentage of times I`ll be more than happy to pick up some wins, I`ll make a run in the WNBA Playoffs coming in aug.

KM, now that's domination and butter! I must say, it looks like the nightlife in southbeach got the Mavs outa gas :-) How many bricks can they toss up in a night?

FA,

I can't follow your arena football and wnba plays, but your NBA betting is pretty much showing a random outcome. If you keep this up, you will be down just your vigorish, which is how the bookies like it.

Suspending Stack was lame. I cannot believe it.

Anyway, anything to help Miami along is good -- they have to win this one and hope to steal one in TX.

2005 NBA Playoffs --- won 97.49 net units
2006 NBA Playoffs --- lost 2.6 units

It appears the vigorish has a long, long, long, long, long, long way to go to catch up to fooledagain1 in the NBA Playoffs.

Even in my worst year the vigorish can only hold about even, hasn`t gained much at all. In the short run anything can happen, in the long run the vigorish has little chance to hang with fooledagain1.

By Fooledagain1 on Sunday, June 18, 2006 - 06:13 pm:  Edit

Actually, the bookies could care less about who wins or loses, it doesn`t matter, the vigorish is their profit. Sports betting is different from any other game, the losers pay the winners and the book just holds the money and charges the vigorish for the service. You never bet against the house, you bet against the people betting the other side.

Where did you get mavs +3 -120? I had them at +2 -110 right about the time you posted. In any case, we both won. I also lucked out on the overtime and hit the over.

By Fooledagain1 on Monday, June 19, 2006 - 06:48 am:  Edit

Got -2.5 on offshore book and bought .5 pt., a few places had 2.5. The money came in on Miami, 1 offshore book was reporting 70% of money coming in on Miami.

By Fooledagain1 on Monday, June 19, 2006 - 06:51 am:  Edit

The number also closed at 2.5 in Vegas, as many spots had 2.5.

By Explorer8939 on Monday, June 19, 2006 - 11:54 am:  Edit

Are you suggesting that the bookmakers are using the point spread to even out the money between the two sides? I thought that the bookmakers were actually betting on the games themselves!?

Teams like Miami winning the title are the exceptions NOT the general rule. To find a team similar to Miami - a team that didn`t finish 1st or 2cd statisically in the league - that won the title you`d have to go all the way back to 1995 when the Rockets beat Shag`s magic.

Much like the Steelers winning the Super Bowl, to find a team that`s not the 1st or 2cd statisical team winning the Super Bowl you`d have to go back to the 2001 season with the Pats winning as the worst statistical team ever. But prior to the Pats you`d have to go all the way back to the strike year of 1987 with the Redskins beating Denver.

Don`t fall into the trap of thinking teams like these will now start winning titles, it will most likely return to the norm next season and many seasons after. You`ll likely hear "the experts" trying to find the next 6th seed that`ll win the SB, or the next 52-30, 5th best record team winning the NBA title, it may not happen again for years.

By Fooledagain1 on Sunday, August 13, 2006 - 09:29 am:  Edit

The Steelers became the 10th team in the super bowl era to win 30 games or more over a 2 year period. (31-7) (81.6%)

How have the previous 9 hot teams done the
following season.

5 of 9 won divisions
4 of 9 did not

1 of 9 won over 11 games (Dallas 94 won 12) (The Pats last season won just 10) (Da Bears went 9-3 in strike year of 87 which would be 12-4 over 16 games if they mantianed the same pace)
8 of 9 teams won 11 games or fewer

6 of 9 made the playoffs
3 of 9 did not

0 of 9 made the SB
1 of 9 made it as far as conference championship game

combined playoff record of 9 teams - just 2-6 (33.3%)
combined point spread record in playoffs of 9 teams - 2-6 (33.3%)

Now is not the time to jump on Pittsburg`s bandwagon. As I`ve said many times hot teams don`t win any more often then cold teams in the playoffs.
The 9 hottest teams over a 2 year period could produce just a 2-6 ATS (33.3%) playoff record, I`d bet cold teams making the playoffs for the very first time with no experience would produce a far better ATS record than these 9 hottest teams.

Surprise Teams of 2006 Season

2 Best Teams not to make Playoffs Last Season

Kansas City
Dallas

Best Teams to Win 6 games or Fewer Last Season

Detroit
Buffalo
Arizona

The past 2 season I`ve predicted 3 surprise teams who finished 6-10 or worse, of the 3 teams, 2 made the playoffs and both won a playoff game. The Skins last season and the Jets in 2004.

Don`t be suprised if 1 of these 3 teams becomes the Skins of this season

Most Overrated Team of 2006 Season

Carolina Panthers -

A number of preseason magazines and experts in the media are predicting this team to make the SB and win the SB.

Highly, highly unlikely this team wins the SB or makes the SB.

Many of these experts say Carolina is playoff tested because of their run through the playoffs as a wild card to the SB and then playing the Pats pretty even in the SB. And their run last season to the NFC title game as a wid card.

Well, Carolina`s had the very good fortune of playing some of the weakest bye teams (no.1 & 2 seeds) since 1978 the 1st year of 16 game schedule. The Philly team they defeated in NFC title game to make SB was the single weakest no. 1 seed since 1978.

The 2003 season when Carolina made the SB was by far the weakest group of 4 bye teams since 1978. It`s the first and only time that all 4 bye teams failed to cover the spread in their opening playoff games, a good sign of their weakness. And the Pats who beat Carolina in the SB was 1 of the weaker SB Champs, and the only SB Champ since 1978 to have a losing point spread record through-out the post season.

When they finally played a strong bye team in Seattle in last season NFC title game, they didn`t look so playoff tested, getting blown-out.
It`s not likely they`ll continue to get lucky, drawing such weak bye teams in the playoffs.

Another team I`d be careful with this season is Skins. Last season was the time to back this team, this season they will be a bit overvalued.

Other than a horde of lesbians , you may be one of 10 people who give a crap about the WNBA.

When you bet on the horses they sometimes pull up lame. Part of the charm of playing the ponies.

You gotta have a serious gambling problem to even consider betting on a useless "sport" like women's roundball.

Fooledagain1`s amazing run through the playoffs, winning units in 11 of 12 playoffs entering 2006, comes to an end.

2006 Playoffs;
NFL --- lost 52.5 units
NCAA Final Four --- lost 4.7 units
NBA --- lost 5.5 units
NHL --- lost 4 units
Arena Football --- won 2.6 units
Europe Football League --- won 2 units
Parlay`s w/ combination of different sports --- won .88 units
WNBA --- won 12.83 units

2006 Playoffs --- lost 48.39 units
won units in 3 of 7 playoffs entered

2004 Playoffs --- won 147.15 units
won units in 6 of 7 playoffs entered

2005 Playoffs --- won 114.89 units
won units in 5 of 5 playoffs entered

Fooledagain1`s 3 year run on Club Hombre --- WON 213.65 UNITS
$100 per unit bettor has won $21,365
Won units in 14 of 19 playoffs entered (73.7%)

Consider 2 of my 5 playoff loses came because of injuries not nessasarly because I was on the wrong side.
Roloson getting knock-out of game 1 in Cup Finals and Edmonton forced to start a goalie who`d never played in a playoff game, 1st time in cup history that happened. And Coria losing French open title when he pulled up with a leg cramp after being up 2 sets to 1.
There`s no garuantee I would of won, but it pretty much garuanteed I would lose.

This is about as bad a year as I`ll ever have, my teams got alot of bad breaks.
Starting with Seattle in the Super Bowl, they out played Pitt and could easily have won the game outright, a number of close calls that could`ve gone either way went against them.

And the Mavs, a 10-1 longshot to win the title whom no expert thought could, they were on the brink up 2-0 in the finals and leading game 3 by 13 points with less than 6 minutes to go when the roof caved in.

And with Conn in the WNBA Playoffs losing their best player to injury in the 1st round.

Every time I had a good chance to get ahead on the year a damn near miracle went against me.

Some of my best years where I`ve set personal records have followed season`s like this, alot of things went against me, those things will likely come back and go for me next season.
