While driving around in a town just North of Fort Worth TX, I stumbled onto a Thai Wat and compound. I had a pleasant chat with the resident monk and the Thai and Lao residence. If you have access to such a facility in your area, it is a pleasant afternoon.

Those kind of places can be more fun than you might suspect. I have vague recollections of being totally shitfaced drunk at a Lao party in San Diego about 3:00am, when some local gang banger type Lao dude suggested we visit his gang banger buddy who was doing his penance as a monk for a week or something like that. We just moved the party on over to Wat Lao San Diego. It seemed quite un-Buddhist, but the monks didn't seem to mind and much fun was had by all. No chicks though. :-(

There's a very nice wat in LA, the Valley actually. Its best feature is a row of food booths with little old Thai ladies serving various inexpensive dishes. Sukhumvitter and I had lunch there periodically, Smitopher joined us a few times. Sancho, come on up, there's plenty of pooying to drool over.

I think you guy need more Thai twat, not wat.
