I see where buy.com is selling Slingbox Pro for $199 now. This is the new version with the 6 Mbps transfer rate. I know some people have tested the orginal out in Rio and not had good results. The one test I remember discussing I believe the client PC was underpowered. I won't have that problem. Has anyone tried the Pro? What was the result?

I think that Bluestraveller posted something on this a few months back.

I have the original one and never really had a problem with it anywhere in the world. I do better ethernet staraight in than wireless. Luckily, I've never really had a problem with the quality of brodband where I've stayed..

It works in Rio. When bandwidth get's tight, the video compression quality is reduced automatically, so the result is slightly fuzzier, but all in all the overall results are very good.

The key to getting the slingbox working great is a good upload speed in the United States. I have about 500K up in the US, and I get about 1500 down in Rio. So most of the time, the picture comes out pretty clear.
I also have my Slingbox setup with a DVR which is a nice combination which allows me to record all my favorite shows and watch them when I like in Brazil
