Over 40? I think more like over 60. Most of those cars were on the road before someone who is 50 now was born. ![]()

Muraski,
on the road yes, but several guys only became interested once they got into cars, etc in their teens which would lower the "age" somewhat.
ie: in 1987 when my son was 16 I bought (another) 1963 Corvette roadster[the car being 24@ the time] Also, these days in order to even get close to one of those cars you need to be an adult with lots of disposable cash! I sold my other 63, a split-window coupe to a Doctor 15yrs ago.I have tried to buy it back twice, he won't part with it for ANY AMOUNT of money! Those muscle cars, corvettes, and certain Mustangs are a better investment [and a helluva lot of fun] than any thing else I can name!
| By Copperfieldkid on Thursday, March 05, 2009 - 07:58 pm: Edit |
Old car update, my neighbor just purchased a '62 Corvette. It is a fuelie, all original, matching numbers car! Completely concours, talk about a nice find [$40,000]...This car is worth twice that, I won't go into how he got it at the lower price.
For those of you that have not viewed the link it will get the collector in you going! [again]

RG,
this should get you salivating:
The first Shelby Mustang GT-350 appeared on January 27, 1965. It was based on the Ford Mustang fastback and was painted white with blue stripes, which was to remain the original color scheme for the 1965 and 1966 models. From the outside the GT-350 didn't look very different from a regular Mustang, but underneath the body many changes were made.
The GT-350 was fitted with Ford's 289 cid (4,738 cc) small-block V8 engine in "Hi-Performance" trim. This unit produced 271 hp as standard, but modified by Shelby it cranked out 306 hp @ 6000 rpm. The 1965 Shelby Mustang is considered the most pure of all. Total production was only 562 cars: 550 GT-350 models and 12 GT-350R competition cars. Highly collectible!

I do not want to hear about '66 Mustangs with 289 engines. Especially if they are black with white hardtops and wooden steering wheels. And most especially if they were traded in for a hippie van.
Please don't torture me this way.

Actually, I went for the double-bed sized Dodge van. Not enough room for romping around in the back of a Volks.
Perhaps you now have a clue for what I was thinking.

First, he puts up a poll about how much everyone likes their own ass, and then he posts pictures of his fantasy cars to look at to help him stroke.
Live for today CFK because as you descend further and further the future can only get worse.
By the way, if I were you I would stay clear of stroking to the last 1951 Buick Le Sabre picture because if you do not, by Pavlovian principles of association you would likely turn into an unrelenting homo (the I948 Retro picture is not so dangerous so long as you avert your eyes from the right-hand side of the photo--got that?)

My first car was a 1975 VW Beetle 1.6 liter fuel injected with a moonroof and factory rally green. Car was tits perfect other than I had to replace the running boards and did some work rust proofing the pan. Only add on was a semi airhorn under the bonnet.
Foolishly, I sold it when I went off to play army. In the past few years I look at them no and then, but everything I find is either a rotting piece of shit or so much has been replaced I might as well build a kit car from scratch.

| By Copperfieldkid on Sunday, April 10, 2011 - 05:25 pm: Edit |
BL,
That would be a reference to a color code. Chrysler came up with special exterior colors that were pretty wild. Not the normal colors generally offered. One of my college roomates had a '70 hemi-cuda that was the lime green color. Fast too! [My big block 427/435hp '68 vette still beat him, but not by much] That Cuda was the only car that ever gave me a run for my money.

Just to further horrify Laguy. My Uncle in rural Nebraska has driven a Rambler for the last 30-40 years. It's one of the most memorable features from my dysfunctional childhood. The same Uncle, his wife and my cousins are practically "Children of the Corn" religious Christians. Like NOT evangelical. More like YOU are NOT holy enough to ever join their congregation. (even if you did drive a Rambler)
So, like Ramblers are aparently popular with that crowd.

I would be remiss if I didn't also mention that at the ripe old age of ten or eleven, I got in a heated argument with my Dad about why he should not buy the Rambler.
My powers of persuasion were not yet well-developed, however. "It looks like a pile of shit and will be an embarrassment to the family" just wasn't the winning argument, as true as it was.

There is another thing that should be troubling to the Club Hombre community about CFK, in addition to his off-topic posts. I note that he is credited with an alleged 2508 Discus posts and categorized as "omnipotent" based on this. Yet as one can see above, a rather large number of his "posts" are completely blank.
In light of his rather cagey way of inflating his post totals, perhaps Hombre should reset his post total to zero, and re-categorize him as either "impotent" or "flacid."
Just a thought.

That's a very cool picture. Fact: TWA was the first airline to use the DC -2 [later version DC-3]
Also:DC 2 A GIANT STEP IN AVIATION "TWA received the first of their DC-2s on May 14, 1934, with the delivery of ship #301. It made its first airline flight on May 18, when it flew the Columbus - Newark - Pittsburgh route. To assure a marketplace, TWA introduced in-flight movies on the new Douglas. “The Flying Hostess” was the first feature film.4 This “extra” drew even more passengers. This of course was long before those lie-flat seats Laguy always longs for.
