Who is affected by this settlement?(top)
Any person who held a Visa-, MasterCard- or Diners Club-branded credit, charge or debit/ATM card issued in the United States as of November 8, 2006 is a member of the Settlement Injunctive Class. Those persons who made a foreign transaction on at least one of those cards between February 1, 1996 and November 8, 2006 are members of the Settlement Damages Class. Only members of the Settlement Damages Class may seek refunds by submitting a claim. If you are only a member of the Settlement Injunctive Class because you did not make a foreign transaction between February 1, 1996 and November 8, 2006, you will still benefit from the settlement, which requires certain disclosures to cardholders concerning the rate used to calculate the U.S. dollar amount owed for a foreign transaction and any fees applied in connection with a foreign transaction.

What a surprise !!

As the "injured" party you can maybe get a $25 refund but the lawyers "representing" you recieve $92.5 million !!!

Ya gotta love class action lawsuits. Raises the cost of EVERYthing for all of us and the only people who get rewarded are the lawyers.

Khun mor,

I've heard of a couple guys getting back around $200, but you're right, the little guy never gets squat in one of these type suits.
Hurry up and file so you can split your money with me!

My guess would be that no one has actually gotten anything yet. Normally in these settlement deals, the defendant has agreed to pay a certain amount. All of the claims have to be submitted before they can divide the pot of money.

Thanks, I applied for my refund. KM, I don't agree. The lawyers only get a share of what we were cheated out of. If there were no class actions these companies would just have license to steal.

I hope there's enough refund to fund my frequent f**ker programs....I have many, and of course the girls are counting on me. PRESSURE...being an icon is such a responsible position.

Who do you think is going to pay for the settlement costs ?? Do you think the CEOs of Visa MC etc are going to open their wallets ?? Of course not. It will result in the costs being passed on to the consumer as ALWAYS. The lawyers couldn't care less. They have $93 million each so I don't think a few extra charges or increased interest rates will hurt them much. I get $25-200 maybe and the added costs will eat that up in no time .

Sounds fair to me.

Everyone who applies gets $25.00, regardless of which method you applied for. No one is going to get $200 out of this, considering the size of the money pool and the number of people eligible for a refund.

KM, I know that its hard to convince someone in your position that lawyers aren't just sucking blood, but we need someone to put the brakes on to these consumer thefts. These companies have to be stopped from just cheating us at every turn of the way. My neighbor is an old retired guy and he hates being cheated, so he spends his time looking over his bills and goes to a class action attorney whenever he gets cheated. I've become convinced that he makes a difference. He's stopped the phone company from cheating us, the electric co., credit card companies, local governments, car manufacturers and so on.

These CEOs will only go on stealing with no regards for us unless someone can stop them. Ford knew that every Towncar, Crown Vic and Marquis in the late 90s had a defective intake manifold. I had a 97 Towncar and when mine gave out they made me pay $1,200.00 to fix it. Some attorneys sued and Ford had to give me $700.00 back. Sure the lawyer got the rest, but at least I got the $700.00 and Ford had to stop. Without class action no attorney will sue for the guy who gets cheated out of the small amount and the CEOs can steal whatever they want as long as its not too much from any one person.

Perhaps -- but you rexample is the exception to the rule. In this particular case none of the parties in the class will recoup anywhere near their losses and the lawyers will become wealthy beyond most peoples' wildest dreams. Where is the equity in that ?? They get 5 million in "expenses" compensated plus about 90 million in " fees" each??

Sorry - you will never convince me, or likely any non lawyer, that this is a fair and equitable division of the award. You are just replacing a theiving CEO with a theiving lawyer. Same - same to me.
