Ron Paul? He is about the only politician who would have nothing to lose by beginning such a conversation (well, maybe his seat in Congress, which already is in jeopardy).
I'm not convinced, however, he should be the one to raise the issue. The problem is he reminds me of that old joke--I went to my psychiatrist and he said I was crazy. I asked him if I could get a second opinion. He said, sure, you're ugly too.
