I'm a US cit and will be in Buenos Aires for a few weeks but may want to jet over to Rio for a weekend. My 5 year Brazil visa expired and as I don't have a BR trip scheduled within the next 90 days I can't get a visa through the normal channels. Do any ARG vets or expats have recent experience getting a visa at the BR consulate/embassy in BA? Can anyone suggest another solution?
Thanks!

Try http://www.visatobrazil.com/.
They got me a 5 year visa in less then one week at half the price other agencies wanted.

Thanks for the response Majormajor.
My problem is the Proof of Travel bit. I don't have a trip scheduled yet that I can show proof of ahead of time. Otherwise, I'd get it done before I leave for ARG. Once I'm in ARG and can get the free time and buy the tix I'll have to go to Brazil's embassy and apply in person.
Seems like that's the only way. Not sure I like the idea of having tickets in hand and waiting for the bureaucracy to work. Especially, if I only have a short window to travel.

Just book a flight on-line but do a hold instead of a buy. Print it the reservation and then cancel the reservation. You shouldn't have a problem at all.

Buy you ticket from BA to Brazil. When you ask visatobrazil to get you visa, include your itinerary to BA and your itinerary to Brazil. This will get you your visa to Brazil.
When I got my visa to brazil, I had an itinerary to BA and another to Brazil from BA. The two itineraries together showed how I would get to brazil.
Visatobrazil gov me my visa in less then one week at half the price everyone else was charging.
