Out side of mongering and traveling do you have any other hobbies? I am a bit of a hoarder by nature. I collect wine and weapons as well as hall mark silver I also love cooking and have a number of culinary and gastronomic qualifications. I was just wondering what other mongers do for fun when not traveling. Drinking beer and watching porn doesn’t count, OK it does but not for this discussion.

My number one passion is traveling (and the other thing that goes with it), but aside from that, my passion since I was 13 has been martial arts - brazilian jiu jitsu, muy thai, stick and knife fighting (kali). Unfortunately I have slowed down in the last couple of years. I spend a good about of time playing texas hold em and craps when in vegas.
I also like to dive and surf, just not that good at it. AZ

Iswal,
"Drinking beer and watching porn doesn’t count, OK it does but not for this discussion". You just had to make it difficult.
I am an avid model train/railroad enthusiast. From building layouts to collecting rare and interesting locomotives [engines] and cars. I have quite the collection and it continues to grow when I am fortunate enough to find something to add.
Planes and trains have been my favorites my entire life. I have enjoyed both worlds. My career has allowed me to have flown just about everything, had it been a different era I might have been an engineer instead of a pilot.
Planes, trains and women-what a life! I have been fortunate, very fortunate.....

Copperfieldkid if you are that into trains I will expect you in South Africa soon to ride the rails, in style on the blue train. I think its still rated up there among the best train rides in the world. Personally on the odd occasion I can take the train, which I love, I take the Premier Class train from Pretoria.
Bluelight you should speak to nastyworld he also collects liquor, but in his case I think he is fascinated by bottles that are some what phallic in shape...

I love everything about trains, including riding on them. That sounds like a great trip.
BTY, that bottle of African Firewater you gave me should be on the banned substances list! It would kill a full grown bull elephant..

CFK (or anyone else), have you ever taken the train up the west coast? I have always wanted to do that trip.

I have only rode the San Diego - Los Angeles segment. If you continue from LA to Santa Barbara and even further to San Francisco it's beautiful.
I would also recommend the drive, which parallels the rails in many locations. I have done that several times, and it is listed as one of the most scenic drives in the U.S.

Az,
You can exit the train at various stops. I liked to start in San Diego in the morning, get off at the San Juan Capistrano station and have an early lunch, walk around a bit and then continue to LAX. There I would spend the remainder of the day and return around sunset for a very enjoyable day [date]..
