I don't pay much attention to Faux News but my question is this - why did Republicans not do anything for the 5 years they had absolute control - Presidency, House and Senate? Oh yeah, because they didn't see any problems.

By the way, how's the auto industry up in Michigan doing these days?

What auto industry?????

You want the answer, just look at the Lions.....0-16....

Just remember, the unemployment issue is directly related to Obama....the lack of jobs...Obama...every company wants to watch what he does....however; it McCain got in, it was business as usual......

BTW, the Ballet is doing great....

So just divert? that's it? Come on Cat, you can do better than that.

By Catocony on Monday, February 23, 2009 - 07:50 pm:  Edit

Yeah, Obama being in office for 5 weeks caused the auto industry to start tanking 2-3 years ago. Maybe it was the oilmen in the White House driving up oil 400% that maybe did some damage?

Yeah, Obama is the cause of unemployment. Not the credit crisis or the housing bubble or the oil/commodities price shocks of 2006-2008. It was a guy elected a couple of months ago that upset the hiring.

I'm officially encouraging your ex's at this point. I'm going to K1 Bruna and then send her straight to Diversity's house.

Cat,

now that's a first class zinger! It brings tears to my eyes.....

Cat, the clip wasn't about the auto industry, but that was a nice little rant.

No one is saying Obama had anything to do with the present mess. How could he? he didnt even vote most of the time (ok, a little shot there) Seriously though no one is saying it is his fault. He has a big fucking job ahead of him.

There is plenty of blame to go around. Bush, Cheney, Frank, Dodd, el al, the SEC, Wall Street, Greenspan, Fannie, Freddie, mortgage lenders, stupid fucking investors that didnt do their due diligence, home buyers that were living above their true means, etc. To try and put it on one group is really showing ignorance to what happened.

You have to admit it, it is funny how depending on which side you are on you can spin this mess. If you think any group is innocent you are not living in reality.

I think what pisses me off the most is the guys that fucked me originally are coming back around for seconds.

This is a little off topic, but the other funny thing is that now gas prices are down no one is talking about serious energy independence. We have such short memories.

In the end all we got was a politicized spending bill called the stimulus package. What a fuck job.

What if, just for one moment in time, we could all put aside all of the political bullshit (and not just say that is what we are doing) and come up with a plan that was really smart? What would that be like? problem is it will never happen.

Whenever anyone in Mexico asks me 'is there any hope for a US-based overcoming of the economic crisis,', I just answer, NO, BOHICA:

trying to explain some high school drop out in the US getting 45 USD an HOUR, plus benefits, pensions, blah, blah, to hold a power tool 7 hours a day results in people cursing themselves.

DC powers that be, please, by all means bail out the auto industry that pledges to shitcan 45,000 workers after they receive your funds. Maybe those workers can be re-trained to compete with the filipino telepone costomer servizz industry to cash in on the ONE remaining comparative advantage we still have in the US"

WE SPEAK ENGLISH!

BTW, Obama's solution to the loss of manufacturing jobs in North America is to push for union protection in the 3rd world. Makes SOME sense, but will it stop globalization's sucking on the wages of American unskilled workers? Uhhh, uhhhh....

It will never happen? Nope.

People are not rational problem solvers. They are cattle, waiting to be fed. They are predisposed to believe their "leaders" who confirm their irrational notions of what is "happy" and "good".

Little things like the adjacent slaughterhouse are effectively invisible, lest inconvenient little thing like actually trying to understand the actual complex environment hurts the herds calm and stability.

You called the stimulus spending bill "political". Yeah... it is. That is not what offends me about it.

It is not going to do anything. There is a significant, respected school of thought that the effect of the "stimulus" is nil. But politically, "We HAVE TO do something".

All I can say is:

eat right
exercise
die anyway.

Have a nice day.

I likes that Obama dude!

P.S. his paying off stock investors to the detriment of the average worker/taxpayer seems to me to be a MASSIVE mistake.

By smitopher on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - 07:26 pm:  Edit

Me likes that Obama dude too... but compared to the last 8 years, a ham sandwich would of been a better prez than the shrub.

Colin Powell, now there's a Publickan I could get behind.

Great line from Nate Silver on the www.fivethirtyeight.com live blog of the Obama and Jindal speeches:

"If it sounds like Jindal is targeting his speech to a room full of fourth graders, that's because he is. They might be the next people to actually vote for Republicans again."
