I'm not sure what to make of this study that shows more online porn is purchased in conservative "red" states than in the more liberal states. Although it is possible the author's conclusion there is more porn viewed in places where there is a greater amount of sexual repression explains this, I'm inclined to believe there may be another explanation (as much as I'd like to believe the author's): for example, perhaps there are more adult bookstores and opportunities to rent porn at mainstream video stores in the more liberal states than in the red states thereby taking away some of the online porn market.
But since I don't hang out in red states, I really don't know if this is the case.

Probably because religous types are more honest and therefore pay for their porn, wheras hippy types bypass the pay sites and download pirated porn without paying for it.

So, IAS, you're saying what many others have said, that the folks living in the blue (hippie) states are smart than those living in Jesusland.

The author of the online porn study may have to update his study. Now that Florida has gone blue, Beachman, who is the ultimate wanker according to the latest poll results, may have tilted the balance to the blue states.
However, we will have to wait until the conclusion of Bwana's poll on March 3 (don't forget to vote, especially for Beachman) to know for sure.
But I nevertheless appreciate the astute observations of IAS and Branquinho.
