MAMAJUANA - I don't know if that is the correct spelling but phonetically correct at least.
Dominican's will load up a bottle with various roots and herbs; then fill it with rum and let it ferment for a couple of months. I suppose it is like some form of spiced rum. Anyway the stuff I have had tastes pretty could and definitely packs a punch.
I will try to purchase some pre made bottles when in the DR later this year.

Yoosin, I have a bottle of mamajuana that I bought over 25 years ago in the DR. It still has some aroma left to it but nothing like it once was. The purpose of the herbal mixture is that it is suppose to get your dick up and keep it up all night long. And the rum is to wash it all down.
Maybe they have changed the recipe because the stuff I tried was really foul tasting.

Mamajuana --
Guys, I was in Santiago, DR last October and bought a bottle of that stuff ('Estrella' label) just a souvenir. I let mine soak with red wine for only a few (6-7) days.
Anyway, I drank this as a lark not really expecting anything. But this stuff really works. Whether it's psychological or physical, I don't know. I've had it for about 8 months now and it still packs a punch.

Some of the stuff in there (bay leaf) you can get anywhere. But some of the roots are indigenous to the island.
And wouldn't you know it, those "secret ingedients" that only come from DR just happen to be the very same ones that make mamajuana what it is. Funny how that works out .......
(mamajuana does work, though)

I read somewhere that one of the ingredients is "miembro de carey," which I believe is DR for a sea turtle's penis...
