A post on Redsnake by the knowlegeable Herbalist Doctorgood turned me on to Maca.Back then it was harder to find but now i can find it easily in the likes of Wallgreens and Sav-on drugs, ect.
This is one of those herbs that if you take regularly works better over time. Not only does this stuff seem to help me shorten recovery time but also seems to work as a sortof Viagra light in helping get and keep harder erections when i take Maca regularly.
I now see some reasonably priced horney goat weed capsules at Sav-On that are a combo of Horney Goat Weed and Maca which is a pretty good combo.
Below is a cut and paste from a site i found that carried Maca that explains some about it.If any of you guys have tried Maca please chime in.

MACA (Lepidium meyenii) is a root vegetable (tuber), related to the potato and wild Mexican yam. It grows in the mountains of Peru at altitudes of 9,000 to 11,000 feet, making it the highest-altitude cultivated plant in the world. Its natural environment is rocky, barren, and cold. Native Peruvians have used MACA as a food since before the time of the Incas for both it's nutritional and medicinal properties.
One of the historical uses of MACA is to enhance fertility. While such claim has not been substantiated by scientific studies, the reputation of the herb may be associated with its remarkable nutritional makeup.
MACA contains significant amounts of amino acids and complex carbohydrates. The protein and calories in MACA are stable even after years of storage. Minerals include calcium, phosphorus, zinc, magnesium, iron and iodine. MACA is a nutritional powerhouse especially rich in iodine.
Additionally, this plant contains vitamins B1, B2, B12, C and E and a number of steroidal glycosides. Weight lifters and body builders are turning to MACA as a natural and safe alternative to anabolic steroids.
Native Peruvians have used Maca since before the time of the Incas, for both its nutritional and adaptogenic properties. MACA is an "adaptogen," restoring balance (homeostasis) to the body. Adaptogens are used to improve the overall adaptability of the whole body. Other adaptogen herbs are ginseng and astragalus. MACA has been used traditionally to increase energy and to promote improvement in both stamina and endurance in athletes. The steady enhancement of both physical and mental energy makes MACA an ideal supplement for students, professionals, writers, athletes and anyone who needs a lift without increasing nervousness.
Unlike many other energy boosting herbs, MACA does not contain harmful stimulants. That's right, no caffeine.
SUGGESTED USE: as a dietary supplement for adults and children over 12 years of age: One or two capsules 3 times daily, or as recommended by your health care professional. If you are pregnant or nursing seek the advice of your health care professional before using this product.
Each capsule contains 500 milligrams of cultivated MACA (Lepidium meyenii).

I've been taking Horney Goat Weed for about 2 weeks. 2 Pills 2X per day. I've noticed a vast improvement in desire but not much improvement in the hardon area unless i really load up like I did a couple of weeks ago in TJ. Still need to take the blue pill. They say you need to take it for long period of time so i will report back in a couple of weeks

Since I've always been leery of Viagra's side effects, I tried a Horny Goat Weed/Maca combo during my recent TJ trip. I didn't exceed the recommended dosage on the bottle (2 capsules once a day), but from reading others' experience, it's obviously been done.
Did it help? It sure didn't hurt. On previous trips, I found that the Zona lifestyle caused my performance to decline as time went by. That didn't happen this time. Was it due to the HGW, or was it psychological? Hard to say.
One slight but noticeable side effect is that for me, it produces warmth in the facial area, which I've heard is also a side effect of Viagra.
It also seems to increase desire, but the window for me is narrow. Seems to maximize in the 1-to-2 hour range.
I didn't realize that it worked better if you took it for a long period of time. I'll have to try that next time.

I was at the local Henry's market the other day and noticed that the Herb/Vitamin counter had a "Herbal PDR" drug reference book.
Read it first for info on side effects of your herbs.
