I have never seen a working girls "health card" what information is shown? How can you tell if there current? Are they stamped? Will the girl be offended for asking? Do SG's have them?

By Athos on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 - 07:46 am:  Edit

We need to bring the expert in but the health card is a white folded id card, slightly larger than U.S. passport. I doubt a chica will let you look at them closely as they must contain their real name.
They must be up to date or they are not allowed to work at the clubs supposedly. Posters have talked about roundup in the past with most chicas having their health cards with them. But again even if updated, does not mean much to me.

By Redongdo on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 - 11:54 am:  Edit

It looks kinda like a bank book or passport. It has a crummy picture of them w/o makeup, like a bad drivers license pic. Dates are stamped showing when they got checked.

I've never been refused a look at the healthcard but a few have given me a dirty look like "you think I'm a skank or something?".

By Rock on Thursday, December 14, 2000 - 09:28 am:  Edit

it would be damn funny if we had to have health cards like a passport, going down South.

heh heh.

Shit, maybe I should erase this, the Mexican officials are always looking to make more money and they might use this idea.
HA!
Like they already haven't thought of this.

Rock, you're right that is a 'funny' idea.

I always ask for the health card when I go there. I know they have it, of course, because theoretically they couldn't get in to Adelita's without it, but I really would like to know... what level of security is seeing this thing anyways?

Shouldn't health cards be stamped when theyve RETURNED and gotten NEGATIVE results on a previous test? From what I undersand, they only account for the times they went and got poked with the needle.

The act of having an HIV test done doesn't mean anything as far as how clean they are. You can get tested a hundred times and still have HIV.

Can someone give some insight on this?

By What3ver on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 - 04:38 pm:  Edit

I'll do my best to explain how to read the health cards, I spend some time studying them and it took me awhile to figure it out...

Ok for those of you who have never seen one, they are white with blue pages and look kinda like a savings account book. They have the girls picture stapled on the cover at the top. In the top corner there is a date stapled on the card on orange paper that says when they were issued that particular card...Note, this date is not the date they were first issued a health card, this is the date they were issued That Particular Card, if the girl loses her card, or her card fills up, and she has to get a new one issued, they put the current date in this place. (There is a way to tell the year a girl was issued their first card, but I'll get into that later)

On the inside there are dates stamped with one of two things stamped after them:Laboratorio SMM, or Resultados SMM. Simply, to tell if a girl's card is up to date, you should see a future date (as in a date that has not already passed) on the card followed by one of the two things above.

Now, what this means is that when a girl goes to get checked, they draw blood and pluck some skin and stamp the card with a date (I believe it's 5 days) for when they have to come back for their results. When the girl returns for her results, and she is clean, her card gets stamped with a date one month in the future which is her next lab appointment. If she is not clean, they take her card away.

Also, HIV is not tested for monthly, it is tested for once every 4 months. You can tell the last time the girl was checked for HIV by looking in the top corners of the blue pages, there will be a stamp with a date, I believe it says HIV NEGATIVO, or something like that.

Now for those of you who want to know how long your girl has been working for, look at the long number after the girls name on the front of the card. In this code is the year that she was issued a card the first time. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly where it is, but it's easy to spot if you know what two numbers you are looking for, and it's in the same spot on every card.

Any questions?

By Amamenena on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 - 05:07 pm:  Edit

it's also a good way to find out their real names.

Not if they're smart, it's not!

By Nevervana on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 - 01:41 am:  Edit

So basically when I look, I want to look for the blue pages and top corner to see "HIV NEGATIVO" and the date.

That will tell me when she was last confirmed clean, correct?

In the meantime, what do they test for with the more frequent stamps? You said blood and skin samples?

Thanks ~~

Tarjetas de Salud:

Marta H. told me that her health card costs her 300 pesos per month. This differs from the immense sums that some chicas have told me when they said they couldn't afford one.

I would note that checking the name on her IFE against the one on her health card and comparing pictures might be a good idea.

By Hippie on Sunday, October 07, 2001 - 04:11 pm:  Edit

I don't know the exact amount, but 300 pesos sounds about right. I know it is not drastically more than that.

I've asked a couple girls to see thier cards but never actually had a chica show me one. One S/G said the hotel manager holds them at the desk.Ive had AB and CC girls too, always the same thing they never let me see them.I test every 6 months im always clean but I never find chicas who dont mind showing thier cards . They seem to get a little mad when asked . It would be interesting to see one.

By Aardvark on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 01:47 am:  Edit

One reason they keep their health card "private" is in most cases it shows their real name and that's one of the main secrets these chicas like to keep.

They look like white passports...I think.

By Luvdog on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 04:45 am:  Edit

They are actually sky blue kind of a heavy paper cover. Another reason they would keep them from you is that it does show in these book if they have contracted any STD since they got the book. The cost is $21.00 per month.

By Adelito on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 07:17 am:  Edit

My novia told me she didn't work all weekend because her card had expired and she had to wait til Monday to get it renewed. I asked her if she couldn't just work without it for 1 day and she said she wouldn't risk going to jail. I know she is very conscientious about such things, but I suppose other girls are more willing to take risks. It made me respect her integrity.

By Shorts on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 - 02:47 am:  Edit

There is one way to tell if a chica is really telling the truth about every thing that she has been telling you. Ask to see her SMM paper work. Pay close attention to dates and colors of different stamps, black and red are the key colors to keep working with every 2 weeks for common STDs and every 6 weeks for SIDA. Remember if the girl wont show you how can you trust her to be up to date on her exams. Another thought on this is, once the exam is over and she has un-protected sex, either oral, vaginal or anal, the health card just got voided.

Comment about real names. To get the health card all they need is a birth certificate. They can use anyones birth certificate or a false one. If the girl is at all smart, the card will NOT have her real name. This also goes for IFE cards by the way.

By Senor Pauncho on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 - 05:28 pm:  Edit

There is a new health card.
Recently (just after I paid her), a chica got a phone call from her mother and disappeared for about 20 minutes.

I wasn't too worried because I was looking at her heath card and she left it with me.

The new ones are pink.
They have a 4 digit number in red.
They also have a multiple digit (long) number as well.
The girl's name and address are on the front cover.
The inside front cover should have a picture overlayed with a "sello" (rubber stamp) which is halfway on the picture and half on the underlying inside cover page.
The Dates are as described above in previous posts.
The last date should be a FUTURE.
More than a few girls carry fake cards.
They also seem to "leave them at the hotel", and such a lot.

In connection with the CITLALI saga, I learned a bit more about health cards.

I visited the regulatory clinic and spoke with Doctora Sylvia Olvivares Fuentes.

The Tijuana clinic tests for STDs monthly (including Clamydia), EXCEPT Syphilis and HIV which are tested every 4 months.

The clinic uses the ELISA HIVtest, same as used in San Diego.

The clinic is about to roll out blood tests for Clamydia, instead of the current urine tests.

Men (including walk-in gringos) can be tested at the clinic.
Men (specifically including gays & TVs) will NOT be issued health cards.

HIV & Syphilis testing costs 158 pesos. Results require 1 week.

By Ele1109 on Monday, February 21, 2005 - 07:27 pm:  Edit

Seņor Pauncho - Do you have an address for the clinic? 158 pesos is quite a bargain compared to my doctor.

By I_am_sancho on Monday, February 21, 2005 - 10:51 pm:  Edit

Ironically it is almost exactly the same as San Diego County Health Services charges ($15) for the same full series of tests down at the Rosecrans St STD clinic. For a government operation they are pretty efficent down there and it is cheaper and easier than going to my doctor. I figure they have heard it all already. My regular doctor is a nice religous guy. Great doctor but I'd hate run down to his office and say "I fucked a bunch of whores bareback all over the planet, can you please make sure my dick is still OK". I get cheked out down at the Rosecrans clinic every few months. Every serious monger should. It really is easy and only $15.

S_P Since you say they will not issue health cards to men in TJ........ does this mean that Milkman DOES NOT have a valid health card? Now I am worried.

They do issue health cards to gringas (American Girls) who meet the identification requirements.

One of my acquaintances who works there told me this.

By Explorer8939 on Monday, August 22, 2005 - 07:07 am:  Edit

I would imagine that these are "gringas" who were born in Mexico and moved to the US at a young age, since one of the requirements for getting a health card is a valid credential. If these gringas are born in Mexico and have a birth certificate, they can get a credential.

It would violate so many labor laws for a non-Mexican to get a health certificate that I wouldn't know where to start.

By Senor Pauncho on Sunday, March 26, 2006 - 04:01 pm:  Edit

Tijuana now has the new "plastic credit card" type health card with a "squished photo" (Looks like they put her head in a vice and squeezed) and a bar code for the health cop's scanners - just like the super market.

There are no "monthly expiration dates" on these cards so that you can see if they are current.

At first, you could copy her "folio number" off the back of the card and call in for status.

But last week I visited control sanatorio (hooker health clinic) and wanted to check on a chica. They flat out refused, citing privacy.

So now it's all on TRUST.

I wouldn't trust more than 2 or 3 chicas I know. And that's not a very large selection.

(I gotta' get me a tijuana GF.)
Of course there is still some risk.....

thx for the update. i'll give it a look soon.

By Senor Pauncho on Friday, September 01, 2006 - 06:49 am:  Edit

update to the above;

There is a round paper sticker a bit less than one inch in diameter. It is stamped with official verbage around the perimeter. The center area of the sticker is annotated with expiration date information.

(There is one distinct limitation to this sticker. The last time I got HIV & VDRL testing done at this clinic, the clerk walked away from the counter and I could have easily swiped a few pre- stamped stickers without them knowing.

I am sure that there exists chicas who would do so given the opportunity.)

Personally, I have escorted my favorita to the clinic three times in a row and paid her tab.

In this manner I KNOW her card is not forged nor out of date. This cost me 20 bucks a month (40 bucks every fourth month). Not a bad investment.

When it is not convenient, I tell my favorita to bring me the receipt and I then reimburse her. (It is a bad idea to give them the money in advance.)

It is good idea to get on the good side of the staff at the clinic, they are good people dedicated to protecting public health (that would be yours).
