In doing some internet research, I have read a lot of hype to the effect that this stuff, which is used by weightlifters, often in conjunction with illegal steriods, sends a signal to the brain to stimulate greater production of testosterone, to compensate for the contrary signal from the steriods. This sounds promising, but I would feel much better about trying it if I knew some wise and sagacious (not to mention stiff) monger could give me some advice.

When I took it over the course of a few weeks couldn't tell much difference, but each of us is different.. Anyone else used it?
By Athos on Tuesday, February 26, 2002 - 01:29 pm: Edit |
I just used this Vimax stuff from Japan, way overpriced btw.
Combo worked for me BUT not as good as viagra, so good supplement imho.
I still got this tremendous hard on which woke me up middle of the night, i guess several hours too late. The combo helps but does not give the extra 20% that viagra gives me.
Vimax is made of:
Yohimbe bark
Tribulus Terristris, available in herb store, it comes from Bulgaria, I just ordered some in my online store
L-Arginine, similar as zinc, good for protein
Androstene, that's what body builder use to help red cells, I'll skip that for now, well I have 29 more pills to use.
Vimax is priced at $100 for 30 pills, you can get the ingredients yourself at half the cost but no regret as I learnt about the Tribulus stuff.
I'll try vimax again this week to confirm lab results. Only side effect came from the Yohimbe, so take before a heavy meal.

Thanks for the heads up on the Vimax. Sounds as if one could put together a cocktail of these various supplements, with hopefully the same effect, at a greatly reduced cost. I would be very interested in your experience with the second go round. So far, my own experience with Tribulus has been neutral, but I wonder if it is necessary to build up the blood levels before you really have it kick in. Many thanks from a supplement newbie.

Second test with Vimax went much better but I took 2 pills instead of 1.
Incredible hard on during session, match made in heaven. I am sold but will see how test 3 works out but this is looking very promising.
Same or better results than viagra. I had to force myself to shoot during the 30+ min session.
By Dripper on Thursday, February 28, 2002 - 03:30 pm: Edit |
Where did you get it at that price. I went on the web and it was $95 and they didn't even say the quantity. Very suspicious.

Dripper
I got the vimax at $95 plus shipping for 30 pills at www.buyvimax.com.
I can get the same ingredients bought separately off the shelf for about the 1/3 of the cost. Tribulus and L Arginine are on their way. Yohimbe I have already a bunch. I'll wait on Androstene but I saw a site listing it at $10.

Athos: Thanks very much for the confirmation. I was wondering if Vimax might be available in TJ for a lower price. Don't know much about andro or L'arginine (except that McGwire used andro between workouts, if I recall). Let us all know your continued experience. Price wise it looks competitive with V. What do you think?

Dripper
Vimax is expensive as opposed to buying ingredients yourself.
I'll post exact mixture later as there are several types of androstene out there.
Vimax itself is comparable in price to the viagra from Panama sold in TJ.
I'll test vimax again with 2 pills then Yohimbe and tribulus without Androstene couple of times before deciding on ordering androstene. Found it in a body builder site for $10.
By Athos on Thursday, March 07, 2002 - 11:53 am: Edit |
My third and conclusive test, last night I just took some Yohimbe and newly arrived Tribulus Terrestris. Got another super hard on during session plus strong morning erection, tribulus is the bomb, no need of v. while in TJ.

Athos: Thanks for the update. What dosage and what manufacturer and source. Seems much better than Vitamin V (at least cost wise). Thanks again, and look forward to your reply with specifics.

I buy regular vit/herbs at puritan.com
Tribulus comes in 250 mg capsules, I took 3 of them last night.
I paid $21.95 for 3 bottles of 90 as they have a buy 1 get 2 free at start of every year but they have other regular sales during the year.

Brothers: I hope there is a doctor that scans these hallowed pages because I need some straight talk. In the pursuit of perfect sexual health, I found myself reviewing more and more herbal websites about this supplement and that, and with typical American zeal, I took all of them in abundance: HGW, Cordyceps, Maca, Tribulus, Yobimbe Bark, ginseng--all between 500 mg. amd 2g per supplement. Frankly, the effect was not that impressive, but that may have to do with other factors. But I just got back from my annual physical and found that my liver enzymes were 800% of normal. In fact, the doctor asked if I were a heavy drinker, and in fact, for the last 7 months, I have been a tee-totaler. I am really reluctant to go with vitamin V for fear of becoming dependent on it. I have gotten to a point of toxicity with all these product that advertise that there are no "side effects" and at the same time not really realized the promised benefit. Bottom-line, should I cut all this stuff out or is there likely an alterative cause of the liver problem (for example I also take 2g per day of E, and 2g per day of Fish Oil---for the good it did me, my cholesterol was off the chart.) Thanks for any reply

I am no doctor but I would not fuck with my liver if I were you. Check out Milk Thistle to fix your liver. I had no problem in my blood at my last check up.

Dripper,
I'm no doctor either and hadn't heard of the liver test. How do they test it? Athos is right about milk thistle.. I take a combo of herbs from
doctorsTrust.com..... It's called *Liver Specifics* and is real cheap.. Contains:
Milk Thistle
Dandelion Root
Burdock Root
Parsely Root
Picrorhiza kurroa
Black Radish Root
N-Acetyl Cysteine
Trimethylglycine
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Chances are some common over the counter medications have cause you some liver damage.. Many drugs are taken off the market each year for fucking up the liver..
I think the best liver enhancer (though more expensive) is the one at "herbasway.com".. It is a concentrated liquid extract and I noticed an energy boost as well.. I think they have the ingredients on the web page.. They also have a great "green tea" extract, but expensive..

Stop fucking around and get your liver really checked out. It could be a viral hepatitis such as A, B, C, etc. Pussy eating puts you at risk for Hep A. Consider getting a Hep A vaccine if you liver checks out OK. Definitely get Hep B, as this one is more serious (complete liver failure, chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, or cancer). Unfortunately there are no vaccines yet for Hep C, Delta, etc. These also are VERY bad news. B, C, Delta and so on are usually blood or body fluid transmitted. Hepatitis is an STD.
Stay healthy and enjoy pussy longer.

Good advice, I finished the series of shots last year..

Guys: Thanks a lot. My doctor has ordered up four other liver "panels" and I get those results in a couple of weeks. I will check out the herbal solutions. Many people I have spoken with suggest the Milk Thistle. I have also been on a high protein diet, and some articles I've seen on the web suggest that high protein may be related to high enzyme levels. Still any word on the toxicity, or possible toxicity, of the herbal combo I mentioned earlier would be greatly appreciated.

Dripper,
I just tuned in to this conversation. I am a primary care physician and quite frankly I can't give much better or complete advice than has been all ready been posted.
I'll try to follow and would advise not taking anything right now except standardized extract of
milk thistle. Take 400 mgs one hour before bed and call me in the morning.
Seriously, labs are incorrect often so repeat with specialized testing is the way to go.
Good Luck... Dazed and Innocent

Dazed and Everyone Else: Thanks so much for your comments, recommendations, and support. I have cut out everything, and have changed my diet to reduce the percentage of protein to less about 30%, and to boost complex carbs (which is recommended in the 1988 Surgeon General's Report). In about ten days, I will have the results from the lab work, and when the liver gets in shape, I will talk to my doctor about the vaccines. I will go get the milk thistle (any thoughts on a good supplier, and should I get it "whole" or in "extract"). Sorry to burden everyone with my medical melodrama.

Dripper,
Go to Henry's or any other health food store many of the drug stores are carrying these things now but I'm not experienced with the quality.
I like Nature's Herbs, Power Herbs standardized extract of silimarin. However there is a web site
www.lef.org, great info. and products.
A little on the expensive side but top quality. Plus they have been kicking the FDA's butt in the Supreme court for a couple of years now.
The newest and supposed to be better one that they have is standardized extract of sylibin also from milk thystle. Check it out.
Good Health....

Dazed: Thanks, and I will go for it. When I get my new lab results back, I hope you don't mind if I share them with you, just for some feedback.

The continuing, and probably very boring, sage of my liver: I got three studies back from my general practicioner, all of which sowed thre is no infection in the liver (that is no hepatisis) so that was a relief. He said that the high protein diet (over 70% protein) might have been responsible for his liver enzymes, which simply were making the liver work overtime. So, I go back for another test in about ten days (which gives the new diet a chance to work), and hopefully things will be back to normal. I noticed that there wasn't much said about adverse effects from loading up on too many hardon-enhancing supplements, so if anyone has anything else in terms of insight on that subject, I would sure love to hear it.
That being said, I have continued on my quest for better boners, and have noticed a couple of products on the net that I thought I would bring to everyone's attention. The first is a product call Tribistrol, a tribulus concentrate. They have their own website, and tout that they have distilled the active ingredients to a higher percentage than found in the whole herb, with corresponding increase in efficacy. I sprang for the first bottle, and haven't noticed much a difference yet. Anyone ever heard of this.
The second is a product called "1-2-3 For Her." This is made by a Dr. Chong, in Alhambra, California, and it has, as its dominant ingredient, Chinese Clematis, which I have never heard of. It is promoted as an impotence, and penis size therapy. I have been on it for a bit, and I have noticed that I am bigger when not aroused, than previously. Haven't really compared when hard, because I am thinking of other things. Any word on this product?
Most of the hype about these things is probably unreliable. But I read this board and see some positive stuff about the herbs, so I figure I should bring this to the community to see what it knows. By the way, I am a customer for both of these products, and not a promoter, and have no financial interest (other than to assure myself that I haven't been cheated). Look forward to hearing from you bros, and thanks for the advice on the liver. Dripper

I took this on 3 trips to Rio last year the last being in Nov. for 5 weeks. I was happy enough with its effect on libido as I seemed to have more pep, although this may have been the after effects of the odd Cialis. However, I'm pretty certain that it caused some hair loss. Most noticeable was a bald spot on my sideburn (about a 1/2 inch sq) which has since grown back. At the time I put it down to temporary alopecia. There was also some slight receding at the temples which hasn't grown back. Not enough for slaphead status but enough for both my parents to query whether I might be going bald.
Any medical practitioners care to comment on whether there's any evidence that the extra testosterone produced is converted to DHT causing hair loss. I googled it but couldn't find any info.
Background, I'm a 34 year old with very thick hair. There is no hereditary baldness in the family as I have the exact same type of hair as my father. He is now 66 with a full head of hair.
Anyone else encounter this with TT? Personally, I'll be sticking to ginseng in future as hair loss is something I'm VERY keen to avoid.
By Ardgneas on Sunday, January 04, 2004 - 09:38 am: Edit |
Another poster asked me to clarify which herb I was referring to above as TT in the post above. The herb in question was Tribulus Terrestris.
