A few days after arriving from Brazil a few months back I got a sore throat. I went to the Doc and he said I had strep throat-probably from open mouth kissing-but that it wasn't anything some antibiotics couldn't fix. I am curious if anyone else has experienced this?
Since most garotas french kiss, I find it quite difficult to resist this.

One of the unfortunate things about my Brazil trips is I tend to come down with something. The first time I went, after a few days I had the worst sore throat I ever experienced (or at least close to it). I'm not sure whether it is the dfking, the long time on an airplane, or both. Tends to happen to me more in Brazil than in Thailand or other places though. I don't think it is uncommon. I expect to give it another test in a couple of weeks.

My MO in Brazil was to bring down some Cipro, and take one pill every day of the trip. Never got sick.

Chlamydia causes sore throats too. Be careful what you eat.

It's also good to know that you can buy antibiotics over the counter in Rio pharmacies. If you start to feel it coming on, don't wait....get to a pharmacy.

I get strep every couple of years, sometimes a mild case and sometimes I'm knocked off my ass and have to spend a couple of days flat on my back. I've had cases in all seasons and I've never figured out a pattern as to why I get it so frequently. I got a mild case one time that hit me just as I stepped off the plane in San Juan for a one week vacation in PR, which really pissed me off.

Don't worry, it's probably not sexually-related. It's very common and there are many causes of it. Of course, if you were tongue kissing a garota who was sick that is the probable source, but I just seem to get it randomly.

The good thing is that basic antibiotics like ampicillin, amoxicillin, etc will knock it out completely in about a week, but the real good news is that usually within 24 hours of starting treatment you're good to go, as long as you keep the aspirin or whatever you take for pain flowing.

I believe the main reason for coming down with a sickness is that you guys are lowering your resistance due to all the sex you're having. Mucho sexo takes a toll on your immune system (not to mention the STD's you're at risk for). So then it's easier to pick up a germ whether you're DFKing or whatever because it's harder for your body to fight off the germ.
