OK, so I am a little slow catching on to things. But, never let it be said that I wouldn't share information.

After about 3 years of buying viagra in TJ, in a number of different pharmacies, both along Revolution and near ZN on Ninos Heros, something finally dawned on me. If I go in, say "give me 100 mg viagra", and wait for the clerk/pharmacist to tell me the price after he pulls the stuff off the shelf, I'm almost always quoted between $16 - $18. On the other hand, if I go in and ask "how much for 100 mg viagra?" (like I'm shopping around), the quote is almost always in the $11 - $13 range.

Ask how much for 2 or 3 and the little game becomes even more interesting. A smart feller can get _one_ for the 3@ $X price.

I'm back in South Florida and still crafting my trip report, but here's a topic I was going to add to the report.

Once through the Mexican 'Customs' alleyway, hang a right and avoid the taxis. Cross the street and there's 3 or 4 Farmacias in a row. Go into Farmacia Castaneda and ask for Viagra. They offer only the 'generic', they say. The product (sealed) is called VIMAX, the label says Sildenafil 100mg, and this -- as far as I can tell from the Spanish on the label -- made in Buenos Aires for distribution in Panama.

Trust me, they work.

The price: a bottle of 5 for $40.

On the way home my last day, I stopped to cop another bottle and was offered the jar of 30 for $150 ($5 each!!). I paid and didn't haggle.

The drug store's buisness card lists the address as "Via De La Juventud Ote. 8800, Local 412, Col. Federal, Tijuana, B.C. The phone is 683-58-84

I went in on your advice after paying upwards of 12 to 14 bucks a pill at various times and locations. I asked for the generic, 30 pills, 100 mg. He went upstairs,got em and came back down. Vimax, he asked me what I had paid previously, I said, 150.00. He said the price is going up cause it's very popular, 196.00 including tax. I paid it cause it's still half what I normally pay. I probably should have countered with 170.00 or so huh? I sometimes suck at negotiating. Anyway thats 6.53 per pill and I only take half a pill, 50mg at a time, so at least 60 fucks per bottle. That ought to do me for several months.LOL. What are you going to do with all yours, down in Florida, use it on the old lady?

I have no clue what I am going to do with the remaining 31 Vitamin Vs -- OK, maybe SOME clue -- but it was too good a deal to pass up.

They expire October 2003, so I guess they'll get used eventually.

No old lady right now, but with over 30 of these babys, maybe I should put out an ad.

Seriously, I'm glad I was able to help someone with my experience. I've made 4 trips over the last 3 years and have taken much more than I've given from these boards and ASPT.

I take the entire 100 mg.

A few reasons:
1. They work for me at 100. I haven't bothered experimenting at the lower dose.
2. The pills are **very** hard to break
3. Supposedly, you need to keep the 'broken' part airtight. Too much trouble for lazy, old me.
4. I'm a big guy.

Things usually start to kick in after about an hour.

However;
A. 50 mg. works for many people.
B. There are some side effects that kick in with the larger dosages, I hear.

There was plenty of discussion on the pros, cons, and potential down sides to Vitaman V on the Redsnake Board about a year ago. I do not know if that archive is still available or not.

Pfizer's web site will probably tell you plenty.

I bite the 100 mg in half, it is more than enough for me. I recently gave a friend a 100, he is a lot bigger and he didn't like it, flushed face, racing heart, elevated blood pressure. It kicks in for me at 25 minutes. I take it on an empty stomach if possible. Also,The one time I was drinking, it made me slightly nauseous.

If you are a mongering animal like me you want to be Hard-on Capable through out a day and evening of debauchery. I prefer to obtain or bring a 100. I bite it in half like childs play (or use a pill cutter). I take the first half at the start of the fest. I take the second half after dinner. I can do three chicas a day, then I run out of money. 4 or 5 are physically possible, but after 3, my drive starts sliding.

Cut pills not used promptly have NO EFFECT!

You know, I haven't had any too much difficulty breaking the tabs in half with my hands...maybe its because my hands are smaller but I am able to get enought torque-- with my thumbs pressed together on top of the pill-- to snap those babies in half...

The cut pills that I have not used promptly seemed to have worked fine...but maybe its psychological...the only thing that didn't work for me was the generic Viagra...I popped one a couple of weeks back and NOTHING!!...Next day I purchased the Pfizer variety and WHAMMO!!-- the flag was soon at attention...

I don't believe there is a generic version of Viagra. Sounds like someone is selling you another drug & telling you that it is generic. I think whoever is selling you generic Viagra is just ripping you off. Patents in the US run for 20 years; you won't see any generics appear on a successful drug until after the patent expires. So anyone that sells you generic Viagra for about the next 17 years is crook. Apparently Pfizer made about 100 percent profit on Viagra in the first year. And you can be damn sure that they are going to take advantage of their patent monolopy until it expires.

I've heard that if you expose Viagra to oxygen (air) it loses it's strenght. How does this work with the Vimax if it comes in a bottle. Are the pills sealed individually or is Vimax made from different chemicals than Viagra or is the air exposure thing just a hoax?... prog

I am not sure if U.S. patens apply in Mexico. However, as far as getting prescriptions go you may want to try the EL FENIX pharmacy chains. There is one about every three block in the main area of TJ. 5th and Constitution (AV. B) and another on 2nd or 3rd and Constitution. I have been told this is the best place for all pharmacy needs.

Any insights on the exposure of unused tabs of Viagra to oxygen?

I keep my broken pills in a rolled up ziplock sandwich bag, but take no special precautions with them. I generally use them within a week or two but haven't noticed any loss of potency in that time period. Like youngbrig, I have no problem breaking the 100mg pills. I gave up on the pillcutter because I had too much crumbling and the dust got wasted. I break mine into three approximately equal pieces of 30 to 35mg each and this does the job for me.

About the Vimax....

I can certify that they work in South Florida, just as well as in Tijuana (at least it did last night {g}).

From what I can tell about the 'air exposure' issue, the coating on the pill sort of works like the candy around the chocolate on M&Ms.

Like Luvdog, I'm not that hip on patent law, so who knows if Pfizer can stop production in Panama? I read an article somewhere last week that India is a free-for-all in respect to enforcement of international patents for drugs. They want to encourage business in their country, so maybe it's the same in Panama.

Went to Casteneda's asked how much for Vimax, answer $40.00 for 5. Purchased them with no haggling and you were 100% right they work just fine!!!

They work faster if you chew them and chase 'em with a Red Bull. After a hard day of sport fucking, I recomend Pedyalite, to replace those valuble eloctrolites. Stay clear of the 'Cocco' flavor. It tastes like piss. Just like piss, as a matter of fact.

Vitamin V is going for $18 in some farmacias. Anyone have a lead on a pharmacy that charges a reasonable price on a single pill basis?

Okay, here's what I do know.

Viagra will oxidize when the drug is exposed to air. It's fairly slow, and a week or so won't make much difference. (However, I always suggest that you wrap the pieces in plastic wrap between uses)

For those of you who cut the pill, you'll notice that the outer coating forms a 'skin' on the outside of the pill. This is because it is designed to protect the drug from air and the resulting oxidation. In fact, when it was first released, Viagra was only available in the little blister packs, and this was also to reduce air expeosure. Since the early days, the Drug Company has confirmed that the coating works well enough to protect the drug. Besides, it's not like they really have to worry much about shelf life of the little blue pill. 8-)

As for Vimax, I've not seen one, so I have no idea about the make up of the pill itself. But, if for a moment, we presume that there is NO coating on the Vimax, and also presume that it is the same chemical make up as Viagra, I'd say that it's safe to presume that the drug can, and IS, oxidizing in the packaging. With these presumptions in place, it's safe to extrapolate that the drugs efficacy will be compromised as shelf life lengthens. So, for a guy who get's 'fresh' Vimax, things work just fine. But, for a guy who gets some Vimax that's been on the shelf for a few months.....well, let's just say that he's not going to see as big a "boost" as he's used to getting.

It comes in a factory sealed bottle, bar coded,dated,fresh, with cotton, manufactured in Buenos Aires. They speak English in there as well.

In the name of, er, investigation, I broke one of my Vimax-es in half prior to ingestion the other night.

It appeared to have the same blue 'coating' (almost a thin layer of something) throughout the entire outside of the pill.

It seemed to work fine. This pill was purchased on my February TJ trip and are dated to expire in October, 2003.

Strangely, I had no problem breaking it with my hands. The Pfizer product requires a sledgehammer, if I remember correctly.

Maybe this has something to do with the humid weather here in South Florida, I don't know.

I know it's a sacrifice, but I will keep experimenting and report back.

I bite mine in half, 100 mg, wrap the other half in a kleenex for the next time down, which can be as much as a few days. Last week I took a half like usual, and then the other half a few hours later, big mistake, I got a raging headache that lasted till the next day. I don't get headaches.....ever. I frequently put the other half back in the bottle when I get home it has no effect on it's effectivness over a few days.

I bought a pill cutter at RiteAid and use it to quarter the 100 mg tabs. I wrap the pieces in aluminum foil till I use them. I've had some of them stored like that for 2-3 months with no apparent drop off in effectiveness.

I think you might mean the Farmacia Continental on Contstitucion. It sounds like their price has not changed i over a year. You can try to bargain for lower price by asking how much to buy 4, then request that price for 2.

I usually go to Yolanda, and they charge me $18.

Farmacia Continental is not *exactly* on the Southeast corner of Revo y Art. 123..it is one door to the East-- or towards the border...I think it is a liquor store that sits between it and the exact SE corner of Revo y Art. 123...

I'm pretty sure on this one...there probably is another Farmacia Continental on Constitucion...

The pharmacia at the north east corner of the pedestrian bridge which leads to Articulos 123 (First) over the Tijuana River. I believe this is in Plaza Viva Tijuana. If you were to take the ramps, instead of the stairs, at the entrance to the ramps going up to the bridge, is the pharmacy I have in mind. Supposedly open evry night until 9 pm.

Brisa's Pharmacia, SW corner of 2nd and Revolucion. Open until about 9 or 10 pm nightly.

My consistent experince has been that, after most of the pharmacies close up, the few remaining pharmacies charge about $16-18! A good reason for shopping around and getting a fair supply.

I would advise, tho, unless you have a prescription, against taking the entire supply back and forth across the border. Buy 'em, use what you need, take the remainder home - presumably 25+ out of, say, 30 - and only take, say, 50% more than you might need in Tijuana, say, 5-6 tablets for a 3 day fuck fest, if you are using two halves of 100 mg pills/day.

I've used Vit. V for four years, usually 2-3 trips/week, usually 3+ screws each trip. I'm in my mid-40's. In excellent condition, about 150 #, a bit less than 6'. I find that, if anything, I cum faster now than before I started using the pills, and faster than the first couple of years of using them. Never had a problem, after the first time or two, when I felt a bit flushed.

Vimax in 5 packs, vs Viagra, anyone have a definitive report on if there is any difference in quality of Vimax?

Is Vimax simply a generic - or local, but 'official' - version of Vitamin V, or it is just snake oil in pill form?
