Anyone have recommendations for cologne that seems popular with the girls?

Also wondering if anyone has noticed if certain fragrances seem to work well in some locations, but not others. For example, your cologne that everyone loves in Rio doesn't do anything for you in Buenos Aires.

By Tampagringo on Tuesday, October 01, 2002 - 12:24 pm:  Edit

Armani Acqua di Gio - A little expensive but it's great stuff and the girls love it.

If you are talking about giving perfume as a gift imho that's a mistake as every female on earth has different taste.
If you're talking about men perfume, try Allure by Chanel, every female sniffs my neck when I wear it.

Old spice seems to work well with the gals of the Unicornio.Right Ben?

The ever popular 'eau de doo da day'?

Seriously, Cool Water for chicks drives ME frickin' insane, and the stuff for guys smells exactly the same according to the samples I've window shopped.

Issy Miyake for men.

It even works here in the states. If you can,. buy it from duty free. That goes for all colognes and perfumes. The US versions are made differently because of some stupid law and the aroma doesn't last as long.

By Bkkguru on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 - 10:59 am:  Edit

Hi, Bonvvnt,
Never heard of "Issy Miyake". Is this a Japanese perfume? The perfumes sold in Duty Free in US are also made in US (I assume).

Any idean what cologne works best in Thailand??

>Any idea what cologne works best in Thailand??

Yes, it's called "The Smell of Money" :-)

>Any idea what cologne works best in Thailand??

Abuelo certainly has the correct answer, but here in the States I have dated a Thai girl and a Lao girl that both independently expressed a preference for RL Polo Cologne so I took that to be a trend among the Asian girls.

Acqua di Gio is my favorite. It is a nice light scent. I also like Drakar Nior, but I feel like I am the only one.

I can't wear calogne to class, it makes me feel high and not able to concentrate.

By Kitesurfer on Tuesday, December 02, 2003 - 07:56 pm:  Edit

Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry Touch, and 'Le Male' by Jean Paul Gaultier are my top three. BTW, Ebay has great prices on cologne.

Rub a twenty dollar bill on your neck, its the smell they all look for.

The new John Varvatos is very good. I also get a lot of compliments on Dunhill.

By Chicagocap on Thursday, July 22, 2004 - 07:01 pm:  Edit

i have got the answer...

i wear african oil...chocholate

smells like ..candy

drives them...WILD..if that is possible...

oil is always better...cologne is alchohol base..dries skin out and doesnt last as long as oil...

dry skin causes ..wrinkles anyway..in the long run

By Wombat88 on Friday, July 23, 2004 - 11:40 am:  Edit

OK, Chicago, what's the scoop on this oil? What's it called and where can I get some?

By Jdelgado15 on Monday, February 14, 2005 - 04:23 pm:  Edit

I use a cologne call "Aramis" it's in a blue bottle. I go out a lot to strip joints, whore houses, etc. And almost every girl likes it! So, I actually call it my "get laid scent!"

By Luckybiegs on Monday, February 14, 2005 - 06:08 pm:  Edit

For those who like Strong European scents. There is the hot selling cologne named Anvers made by Ulrich Lang. You can only find it in high end places like Barney's etc. As an american we only tend to wear light scents. This one is pretty powerful. I wear about a dozen different cologne's. This one gets the most compliments from women.

By Valterreekian on Monday, February 14, 2005 - 06:35 pm:  Edit

I am real partial to Carolina Herrera. It is not cheap, but it has a high oil count, and lasts all day. It has a bit of an exotic spice scent to it. I have never met a woman who did not like it (although I am sure I will , nothing is universally liked). You can get it at any upscale department store.

By Ttboy2100 on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 12:59 am:  Edit

I have about 20 good colognes and the one i receive the most compliments is Candies for men.. Its not even that expensive.. This reminds me.. I need to run out and buy another bottle!

By Wombat88 on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 04:44 am:  Edit

I like a dark, heavy scent, but most of the American colognes are indeed light. An exception is the new Obsession Night for men. I tried it yesterday and got good responses from the women I asked.

>>>Any idea what cologne works best in Thailand?

I'm not a big fan of having my smell arrive before I do, so I don't even wear cologne any more. What I do wear is a talcum powder called Cool Water by Davidoff. Kind of hard to find in the stores, but it can be ordered online. It's a light clean scent, and I had several of the Thai gals snuggle up to me, sniff my neck and go "Hom hom" this trip, which I learned means something along the lines of "smell good".

If you want the same scent but a little more noticeable, Davidoff does make Cool Water cologne as well.

By Wombat88 on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 01:52 pm:  Edit

If you're a talc kinda guy, on you next trip keep an eye out for St. Luke's Prickly Heat Powder. I coat myself in this stuff when I can't take the heat. It doesn't have much in the way of a smell, but feel gooooooOOOOd!

By Epimetheus on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 04:04 pm:  Edit

Gotta keep that Prickly Heat Powder away from the "vittles". Had a buddy swab the unmentionables with it before going out and discovered it's not quite so refreshing when applied to the sachel.

Actually, that's exactly how I discovered the stuff. I was getting dressed at a soapy and noticed powder on the bureau. Well, since the ol' nether regions get pretty clammy in the Bangkok heat, I dashed the stuff all over my loins, chest and pits. It wasn't until about ten or fifteen minutes later that I discovered the how they settled on the name Prickly Heat. Personally, I love the sensation!

By Don Marco on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 07:37 pm:  Edit

Aqua di gio and polo blue are the top selling ones for good reason. I alternate and girls everywhere love 'em. I like the smell also.

Drakor Noir is toilet water (literally and figuratively).

By Dubmeun4given on Sunday, May 29, 2005 - 09:59 pm:  Edit

Athos is right Allure Sport has been a miracle for me... Since I started wearing it, I havent had a woman NOT compliment me on it. Its incredible!

By Dongringo on Monday, May 30, 2005 - 08:43 pm:  Edit

Has anyone else dabbled with the pheremon colognes? I've tried two different ones and had some interesting results.

By Knockkneedman on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 05:42 am:  Edit

Personally I think that the pheromone thing is bunk. However, woman are much more sensitive to smell then are men. Smell is also a true aphrodisiac to a woman. In other words, smelling really nice will turn a girl on. This is a truly noticeable effect.

I use cologne in any and every situation, the effect is undeniable. I even bring my cologne to the termas with me to apply after a shower. I will spray it on before a escort girl comes over. It turns them on, I have absolutely no doubt. I have seen the difference with the same girl, having cologne on will get them going more so than without

Obviously, this all assumes that they like the cologne.

By Wombat88 on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 03:16 pm:  Edit

I'd read some research some time ago that identified the most potent smell for a woman (i.e. turn her on). The result was quite surprising. Sorry I can't remember what it is exactly, but it wasn't some sort of citris or musk, it was something like pumpkin pie!

Maybe I should spend more time in the kitchen.

By Dongringo on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 04:45 pm:  Edit

Wombat it is interesting that you say that. I have purchased 3 different phermone colognes over the past 10? years. The first two didn't do much. This last one is different. It smells like a combination of peach and vanilla. But it is a solid, musky smell versus anything 'flowery'. ANYways...

I've had women do things they don't normally do, and go kinda nuts when I use this last product. One girl I met who lives in another state was immediately drawn to me and claimed she couldn't get the memory of my smell out of her mind. Two others have commented how much they like this stuff as well. So I was just wondering if anyone else had any luck with that stuff.

Am I the only nutcase who tries every product he can?

By Laguy on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 05:09 pm:  Edit

Okay, now that I've been drawn to the gay thread here at Club Hombre, and have been sucked in (so to speak), what do I do once I have this "toilette agua"? Do you spray it on the neck, face, or what? I know what to do with aftershave, but none of this newfangled stuff. Yes, it may be a stupid question, but I am looking for a serious answer. TIA

P.S. DG: Are you going to share the name of your secret phermone cologne so that we too can drive the garotas wild?

By FLhobbyer on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 05:44 pm:  Edit

Sounds like the Vigel conversation of about a year ago.

Maybe I should just use all that left over Vigel in place of blistex and see if the smell of it has girls I meet wanting to jump on my face?

By Phoenixguy on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 08:56 pm:  Edit

Just be careful walking by the katoey bars with that pheromone stuff on <g>: http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=8432569.

Some snippets from the article:
-----------------------------------------------
A compound taken from male sweat stimulates the brains of gay men and straight women but not heterosexual men...

...The pheromone in question is a derivative of testosterone called 4,16-androstadien-3-one, or AND.

...AND is detected primarily in male sweat"...

They let them smell EST, AND, and ordinary odors such as lavender, and used positron emission tomography to watch their brain responses.

"In contrast to heterosexual men, and in congruence with heterosexual women, homosexual men displayed hypothalamic activation in response to AND," Savic's team wrote.

And a region of the brain called the anterior hypothalamus responded most strongly -- an area that in animals "is highly involved in sexual behavior."

With the type of responses posted above, I wonder why I even bother discussing my pathetic life with y'all. Honestly. All of you disgust me.

Here's the product. I COULD post a link as to where it can be purchased, but I won't. You're on your own.

cologne

But this past weekend, I'm thinking that a regular favorita responded well to this product. We 'made love' 4x in a 24 hour period and she initiated each session. This behavior is unlike her, so I'm wondering if it is the cologne.

By Laguy on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 11:05 pm:  Edit

It's a friggin' "unisex perfume." What's up with that Mr. Gringo?? I now understand why you were too embarrassed to post the link.

Now, that Athos convinced me to purchase some of that Allure toilette agua, would someone PLEASE tell me what to do with it? I don't want to make any toilette agua faux paus (or something like that), particularly given that I am going on a LONG airplane flight tomorrow, heh, heh.

By Dongringo on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 - 11:47 pm:  Edit

Well I'll be damned... so it is... ain't that a 'sir'prize.

Although I remain confident in my undeniable masculinity and rock solid heterosexuality, I guess I'll hafta revisit this product. It sure works though...

Hey do ya think it works because ALL chicks are Bi at some level?? Gotta do more research...

Back to the laboratory, I remain

I think Phoenixguy has the answer. Also, if you really like a certain cologne, by all means use it...but please don't get suckered into buying something because you think it will get you better sex.

I've tried many expensive and inexpensive colognes throughout my 20s. By my 30s I think I did enough testing to determine that I'm not convinced bottled scent drives any chica wild.

When I wear cologne it seems I get patronizing compliments...not sincerely turned on horny fuck bunnies who cannot control themselves.

I figure, if liquid scent really made chicas horny, medical "thought police" in the US would require that it be prescribed by a doctor.

I also figure, most well mongered chicas know how to schmooze the dollars out of our pockets. They are smart. They are great actors. If you took the time to buy cologne and wear the product...she will likely compliment you. Maybe because it is pleasant smelling, but more likely just to stroke your ego. Then when your ego is good and stroked, you will tell her your secret scent is 'O-de-da-la-twat' at $200 an ounce...she will say, "Oooo, it makes me so horny...you have 7-minutes remaining to cum."

Before I head-out of the hotel I'll take a regular shower and get good and clean using regular soap and shampoo. I'll be sure to wash Mr. Happy very well too. Then I will rinse off.

Before getting dressed I'll do 4 maybe 5 sets of push-ups (20-30 reps), just enough to start a light perspiration and pump-up my upper body. Then I'll sit for a while to cool down. Then, I'll towel off as needed. Then I'll get dressed and head-out.

The theory is that the light sweat from the push-ups brings the natural pheromones to the surface of the skin. The pheromones (the man smell) supposedly stimulates the area of the female brain that makes her more receptive to mating. And if she happens to be ovulating...her response may be even more intense. (Is that good or bad?)

Working up a light sweat right after a shower will not stink until sufficient bacteria naturally gathers...which, will likely not happen before Mr. Happy gets a good thorough workout a few hours later. Then, simply catch a shower afterwards so you don't really become foul smelling. (Obviously change clothes too as required).

Also, on numerous occasions I've had chicas say that they liked the way I smell...with no cologne. Usually when they are up and around the base of my neck...(a pheromone intense area).

Other benefits of using your own natural pheromones Vs. store bought magical elixirs...you save money. Also, you don't have spills or broken bottles in your luggage. And you will still get laid while in a P4P environment (I can almost guarantee it).

the way to smell good and natural, is not to take showers for a long time.
