In reading a few threads about not ordering from certain websites and many commenting about having spam problems afterwards, which included me, I have been playing with the filters available in yahoomail and my main e-mail in-box.
I have added filters in yahoomail that look for words like viagra, cialis, meds, etc, in either the subject or body line of an e-mail, then sending those e-mails to another folder. It is also possible to send them straight to trash, but I wanted to make sure I was not sending anything I needed to read and set-up a special spam folder to review them. So far it has worked like a charm and my inbox is clean again... the spam folder is growing. So far all the e-mails are true spam, so in about a week when I feel comfortable I will redirect them to be automatically sent straight to trash.
One way to get a handle on any spam that is making its way through to your inbox.
I still highly recommend the indian websites - the medicine works and is super cheap - but, use a dummy e-mail address to order and never your main e-mail to avoid getting spammed..... but if you have done so already, then this filter method is a way to get control of your inbox again.
Hope this helps someone....it sure helped me! Today I had 20 of them go straight to the special spam folder i established....
I will continue to add filters as necessary - I think I will add Pharmacy, canada, etc... you have up to 100 filters free.
have not tried it in Hotmail (since I do not have a problem there), but with yahoomail works great.
the filters can be set-up to look for words and not be case sensitive (since spammers often use capital letters mixed in with lower case letters),so they are very effective
