We depend solely on membership fees to pay our bills and keep the site going. There are literally thousands of ways an email could be intercepted for Spam. There are countless email viruses running around the internet and intercepting addresses. If you or anyone you email uses Microsoft Outlook, you are especially vulnerable to attack or Spamming.

We require an email so that we can send out welcome messages explaining to new users how to use the site. We also need an email so that we can look up accounts and help users when they email support and don't include their username. And finally, we send out messages notifying users that their account is about to expire.
