. . .but as it happens, I was on my way to Costa Rica and there is no American based cell service that roams there (I last checked about 6 months ago). The cell situation is real screwed up down there and you need to rent a phone in Costa Rica in order to ,ake/receive calls. Your idea does work for most countries though.
