New Year in Rio

I've just booked a room at the Rio Roiss through blameitonrio4travel for the period from the 25 Dec to the 14 Jan. They have asked me to pay U$700 for a New Years "package" covering the period 29 Dec to 2nd of Jan. That works out to U$175 per night! Is this just what it costs to stay in Rio over New Years or am I bein fleeced? What is more, I've been asked to fax a photo copy of the front and the back of my credit card to blameitonrio4trave so that they can take the payment for the New Year package by the 1 Dec. In the light of other postings I have read, pertaining to CC fraud in Rio, I'm a bit worried about this. Any recomendations?
