check your system for scumware. (Also referred to a spyware.) It could have been installed accidently, without your knowledge or with a shareware program you downloaded for free. There are programs that hide in the background and then pop-up advertisements to you based on the sites you visit.
Download Ad Aware 6 http://www.lavasoftusa.com and check your system for any unwanted spyware software. Be sure to check your system for viruses as well.
