Helldivers 2 Flying Bile Titan Guide: How to Kill the Dragonroach - CaseyQuinn - 06-15-2026

To counter the Dragonroach in Helldivers 2, you must exploit its stationary hover phase and target its head with heavy anti-tank weaponry or tracking Stratagems. Introduced in the Into the Unjust update, this flying monstrosity is essentially a winged Bile Titan that patrols high-difficulty Terminid hive worlds (Hard difficulty and above). It attacks using a specific pattern: it executes a fast fly-by breath attack that leaves a burning trail on the ground, followed immediately by a static hovering phase where it sits entirely still for a few moments, becoming an easy target.

The Weak Spots
The Head (Top of the Noggin): This is its ultimate weak point. Heavy Armor Penetration (AP5) anti-tank weapons will one-shot the Dragonroach if placed cleanly into its face or forehead.

The Wings: They have no armor but possess incredibly high durability (100%) and 80% explosion resistance. While destroying a single wing is fatal, small-arms fire or standard explosives will mostly be absorbed, making them inefficient targets compared to a direct headshot.

The Underbelly: Like its terrestrial cousin, the Bile Titan, the Dragonroach has an unarmored underbelly. Concentrated small-arms fire or autocannon shells to this green abdomen can bring it down over time.

Best Stratagems & Weapons
1. Dedicated Tracking Stratagems
Orbital Railcannon Strike: The ultimate low-effort counter. Wait for the Dragonroach to stop moving and enter its hover phase, then throw the beacon. It auto-locks from orbit and drops the beast instantly with zero aiming required.

FAF-14 Spear: Highly effective because it automatically locks onto the flying target from up to 300 meters away. If fired while the Dragonroach is aggroed and diving straight toward you, the missile tracks perfectly into its face for a one-shot kill. Otherwise, hitting it mid-flight while it is maneuvering away can result in a miss or require two body shots.

StA-X3 W.A.S.P. Launcher: Good for building up anti-air volume fire, though it may take two full barrages to successfully down one if you miss the critical weak spots.

2. Heavy Support Weapons (Anti-Tank One-Shots)
EAT-17, Quasar Cannon, & Recoilless Rifle: All of these heavy anti-tank options will instantly drop a Dragonroach with a single well-aimed rocket to the head during its stationary hover phase. If you miss the head and clip the body, expect it to tank 4 to 5 Expendable Anti-Tank (EAT) shots.

AC-8 Autocannon: Excellent if you want to shred its wings or soft underbelly from a distance. Switch it to flak mode to reliably land hits through its erratic flight movements.

EXO-49 Emancipator Mech: Highly viable for tearing them out of the sky in heavy bug-infestation zones, though you should expect to dump roughly half to three-quarters of your ammo reserves if you aren't hitting clean headshots.

Tactical Numerical Analysis: Survival & Gear
The Dragonroach's breath attack inflicts "combustible acid" damage, which behaves quite differently from standard Bile Titan vomit. Upon contact with the air, this low-viscosity liquid ignites instantly, turning a 40-to-50-meter cone on the ground into a roaring pyre. Unprepared Helldivers can easily be incinerated in a brutal 0.25-second time-to-death window.

To survive this threat while gathering the premium currency needed to expand your arsenal—often sourced via platforms like U4N, where players seek out the helldivers 2 super credits best price—you must adjust your defensive passive perks:

Fire-Resistant Armor Passives: Equipping armor sets with traits like Inflammable, Acclimated, or Desert Stormer mitigates 75% of the incendiary damage.

Vitality Booster: Pairing a fire-resistant armor set with the Vitality Booster allows you to confidently stand directly inside the Dragonroach's acid-fire stream. Instead of dying in a quarter of a second, your health pool drains slowly enough to give you a safe, multi-second window to line up a precision anti-tank rocket directly into its jaw.

The Dive: If caught without specialized armor, hit the dive button to go prone immediately. Diving instantly extinguishes the burning status effect, saving you from a forced reinforcement drop.

Terrain Usage: Dragonroaches lack any form of terrestrial movement and cannot navigate tight spaces. Leading them to cave networks allows you to utilize natural stone ceilings as hard cover, forcing the beast into a restricted, static hover above the cave opening where your squad can safely gun it down.

Be aware of your surroundings when securing a kill: much like the Illuminate Stingray ships, the plummeting corpse of a downed Dragonroach retains its physical velocity. Standing directly underneath a falling roach will result in an instant, crushing death.
