Daytimer, I'm sorta chuckling here, (sorry) 'cause I felt the same way...When you get complacent down there, you are setting yourself up for a fall. I was much more on "red alert" when I first started going there. In a way, newbies have an advantage over the vets in that they are naturally on "red alert" all the time... Regarding your glasses, I've been known to visit some of the bars off Rev during the AM hours. I was sitting in one with a buddy of mine about 10:30 AM and a guy came in and was trying to sell us - eyeglasses! He must've had about 10 pairs. My buddy, who wears glasses, turned to me and said,.."Some poor gringo must've had his glasses stolen...". They try to sell'em.... The first day I went down to the Zona, I followed the BOT FAQ to a "T"...but the next day, I walked to the Zona ( no cab...) and walked all over the place. Why? Just a man thing, I guess...we always seem to be willing to take risks, and thumb our noses at warnings from others. I've done it all my life, and I've always paid a price for it, somewhere along the line. And I'll probably keep on doin' it, 'cause I like adventure. The guy I was drinking with during the "eyeglass sale" incident has a friend who has been mugged 3 times down there...and he still keeps coming back! This guy also walked into a bar one day and got slugged in the face right out of the blue...one of the bars on Callejon Coahuila (the alley...)
