I knew an old jazz drummer who was reputed to be a "martial arts master", yet his hypothesis was that if your opponent can't see you and can't come after you, you've won the confrontation. His advice ( and this only works for a frontal attack as he explained it)...Gouge the eyes while simultaneously scraping the edge of the sole of your shoe down the attackers shin, culminating in an impactful stomp onto their instep. Supposedly, this maneuver will cause blindness (short term or longer) and the "instep stomping" will cause excruciating pain, and render your attacker incapable of chasing after you. I imagine some of these maneuvers could be executed if attacked from behind, but one's reaction would have to be extremely fast and accurate. KRICO |
