Brother Red, You are one of the wisest dudes around these parts, I think, and this is one of your wisest posts--just being hip to the fact that it's potentially as shit a situation as it is for the chicas (not inevitably, but at least potentially), and that we're participating in it, and therefore we're contributing to evil, and yet recognizing that it's too complicated (both the scene and our 'addiction' to it) to simply play holy roller and start condemning everyone as a contributor to suffering in the world. After all, getting up and breathing every day contributes to suffering. Did you give up eating meat 'cause you wanted to contribute to ending suffering? Better try to get your body to stop killing all those micro-organisms it kills every second so you can go on living ('yo, c'mon, body, just chill out, leave the little dudes alone!'). Drove my car and bought a pair of tennis shoes today, thereby making my contribution to police-state regimes all over the Third World. Tragic, tragic life we got thrown into, my brothers, without even being consulted beforehand (and a big fuck you, God, you non-existent bastard, for that one! but thanks after all, as non-existence probably woulda been a lot more boring). Little moments of pleasure here and there, in my view, have to become the foundation of living, the thing that remains, that holds together the whole big thing, or it all gets too heavy, man, way too heavy to bear. And a self-inflicted bullet in the head lies thataway, if you get my drift...although I ain't saying nothin' against that solution to the problem, either. Look the horror in the face and keep on drinkin' and dancin'. That's what I'ma do. |
