Found a couple of links to that museum and they have a page about that exhibit. I'll have to stop by the next time down...I didn't know that it (La Jolla) was part of the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art...although I have seen their annex over in American Plaza...it's bascially a museum bookstore...

Also thanks for the info about Gelman, and Cantinflas...I've seen some Cantiflas films while whiling away a few lonesome hours in my hotel room in TJ...and the guy was great. Mexican cinema certainly rivaled Hollywood during the "golden era"...the production crews were every bit as "professional" as the Hollywood crews, in terms of camera operation, lighting (B&W film), set design etc...and the onscreen talent was great.

Frida Kahlo was great...especially her "mono brow" eyebrows...I always get a big kick out of that mural right right after you go through the revolving gate from the US into MX...seems like it's still a work in progress...and then the mural down by the shipyards, comin' in to Tj on the "tren rojo"...the mural with the giant profile head of a blue-eyed Aztec blowin' on a conch shell...
Que loco!
