Ritmo, Surely the chica view of their lives as prostitutes enters the equation of whether we are conributing to a fucked up situation. Our decisions are tempered by our understanding of their job conditions and opportunities etc..In particular we would want to know if they were being held against their will (physically or in debt) or unable to leave the field. Whether our behavior exploits is not a question that can be objectively (or easily) established. As Redongdo pointed out, we can not necessarily see all the relevant factors. All we can do is minimize the liklihood of our participation. I am not suggesting that we abandon mongering. I agree with your statement that trying to see it in its moral complexity in a non-judgmental fashion is difficult. When you or I raise this issue on the board though, people reduce it to caricature or absolute statements. They either see the discussion as pointless or are simply unwilling to examine their own actions. Nomar
