I'm surprised the cops gave you the support they did, I doubt you'd get that much attention from the cops on this side of the border given similiar circumstances. Shit there was a time I would've gotten a couple of righteous dudes and kick in the fuckin' door! When I worked on Broadway in San Francisco during the early '70's there were a few times we went into those junkie hotels (the same ones that once housed people like Lenny Bruce and the like during the beat era) to "liberate" some items that belonged to someone. Get me drunk enough sometime and I'll tell you about the 15 year old runaway that was "recruited" by some street junkie and he wouldn't give her back her clothes cuz she wouldn't turn tricks to pay her "rent" anymore. It was right out of "Starsky and Hutch"!
