Dude, I have been fighting self-destructive tendencies my whole life (sometimes more successfully than others.) I alway feel like a misfit, even in situations where I am totally accepted (ESPECIALLY in situations where I am totally accepted!) The pattern of my life has been running from intamacy to strange places, and then seeking intimacy when I get there . . . Although my wife has put this pattern on hold. In other words, I know you are right, but hope that a psychotic episode doesn't make me fuck my life up again anyway . . .
