They talk to ten streetgirls and supposedly get a sample that represents all the working girls in TJ? Those ten are probably the only ones that would talk to them, the others most likely told the "researchers" to take a hike when they started asking stupid questions. In fact the ten they talked to were probably on heroin and just nodding yes to whatever they were asked because they thought that's what those guys wanted to hear!
