I am not a confidant of TJ Hombre's (that I know of, anyway -- have never met the guy or know anyone that has), but I have yet to see anything that he has overtly done that would give rise to concerns like Traveler's above. From what I have SEEN I think he has dealt with people extremely fairly and has given ample warnings to people when the content of their posts has been controversial. MY OPINION Re: the subject at hand: There are some people, predominantly Ritmo, who seem obsessed with yelling to all who will listen that condomless sex with TJ prostitutes is low risk behavior, no matter how controversial the subject is. He, and to a lesser extent Diego, have also encouraged people to take such risks. There is a heretofore silent population that while not publicly advocating taking these risks, engages in this risky behavior as a matter of routine. From what I have seen, TJ Hombre has let ALL have their say so far, no matter how irresponsible the messages have been. When Traveler, Diego, Ritmo, or I post, we post our opinions or share our knowledge and observations. When it appears on TJ HOMBRE'S MESSAGE BOARD, however, he may be properly concerned about the message it sends out to readers. I know I WOULD want to think that any board I might happen to run would be rather concerned about stuff like that. As an example, I would compare the subject at hand to something like sex with underage chicas. I feel the same way when people bring it up: I WINCE because I KNOW it is WRONG. Like many, many others on this board, I have DONE IT myself. If ANY OF YOU tried real hard or felt passionate enough about it, you could write an empassioned essay about how 'age is just a number' and take sophistry to a new art form on the subject. It wouldn't make sex with a minor any less WRONG and ADVOCATING IT any less irresponsible. It is my opinion that such a discussion is inappopriate in any public forum that gives a SHIT about the messages it conveys. Let the lowbrow and the shady crawl back in their hole and talk about how they get their jollies with the underage set. For to use a forum like THIS to discuss it may lead to a proliferation -- a behavior that MOST of us agree is WRONG. The one thing that the death of Redsnake, and before that JR's board proved is that the boards didn't BELONG to any of US. They were great while it lasted, but there was a guy behind it who called the shots and had the ultimate say. IMO, TJ Hombre's board has been the best run board OF THEM ALL, and if that is because he steps in to pre-empt problems before they escalara-ate (sorry!) then I am all for it. If that leads some people to feel 'chilled' and decide to take their toys and go home, my flippant response would be 'bon debaras' and encourage them to find a way to make ASPT work spam free so they could post to their heart's content in FREEDOM. Anywhere else there will likely be, ugh, RULES! |
