Yeah, that's the main difference - the east side lots maximum is only for 8 hours - west side is 24 hours. There are benefits to parking on the east side if you are making a short trip: (1) You don't have to walk back over the pedestrian bridge when you return to the U.S. all exhausted and wobbly-legged; (2) Easier access to the $1 buses to downtown TJ - the old Border Parking lot on the west side has a bus stop, but far less frequent service. You may also consider that east side lots will create more difficulty for you to avoid DUI checkpoints on one of THOSE nights.
