I think your schedule will work as long as everything clicks. I usually can walk out of my hotel in ZN at 8:00 and be in the Clairemont area (north of the airport) by 9:00. However, I'm missing most of the commute rush on 5, that you'll probably hit at the earlier time. Also, sometimes there's a slowdown cabbing from ZN to the border, because of traffic, and sometimes a slowdown going North on 5, again because of traffic.
