My own "gawdawful" experience with TJ food poisoning occured after I had dined at a very popular "with the monger set", frequently applauded, given the seal of approval by the San Diegan magazine, restaurant. I won't ( at least at this point) mention the name of the restaurant because I had eaten there numerous times (at least a dozen...they've got great food!)previously with absolutely no problems. However, now that I think back on it, I haven't been back since - no doubt it engendered in me a severe Pavlovian avoidance response... I narrowed the culprits down to either the beer at AB (unlikely - since I always drink the same beer and it's always opened in front of me...) or this particular restaurant - which was the only place I had eaten food that day...And I ordered the dish that I always order, the speciality of the house, a type of steak... Yet I have eaten at other places in the Zona proper, where the cockroaches have run across my table while I dined, ... with no discernable gastric distress... So, when your number is up...your number is up! |
