Coherent? Of course... I particularly remember the astonished feeling I had when the chicas would respond to what seemed to me to be a lot of gibberish that I was speaking...the sounds of the words (Spanish) were not yet accepted by whatever part of me speaks...(Noam Chomsky, as linguist, postulated that ALL human beings are "hard wired" to learn a language, hence it is formed in a very primitive part of our conciousness..."In the beginning there was the word..."...and of course the language we tend to learn is the one that we hear during that particular developmental stage, so in some profound respects, I'm re-developing...) I also remember being quite shocked a few years back upon realizing that the two Zona women that I had over at my hotel room (and had been screwing for several hours...)REALLY couldn't speak anything other than Spanish. I kept thinking that sooner or later they would just start speaking in English...instead...the opposite happened. About a year ago I was briefly involved with a chica who talk to me incessantly, but of course in Spanish. Sometimes I would burst out laughing during her long discourses, because I realized that I WAS understanding what she was saying...and I seemed incredibly separate from my old "concept of self"... Further, some guy named W.V. Quine died a couple of weeks ago at the age of 92. He was a Harvard philosphy professor "whose analysis of language and its relation to reality made him one of the influential philosphers of the 20th Century"...I'd never heard of the guy...but the article goes on to say,"Quine's philosophy is a systematic attempt to answer from a uniquely empiricistic point of view, what he takes to be the central question of epistemology, namely "How do we acquire our theory of the world?"...Mr. Quine's answer, in a nutshell, began by rephrasing the question to read "How do we acquire our TALK about the world?"..etc...etc.."nothing that humans know about the world lies outside the realm of language..." I have some intuition that my Mexican whorehouse experience is somehow explained by that recently deceased gentleman's line of thought, but further research will be needed. Perhaps a grant is in order? Perhaps from the NEA...grainy photos enhanced with colorful spray-can graffiti, of me fucking putas, while "re-conceptualizing myself" on the "language level"... KRICO
