You are correct sir! Late at night CAN be dangerous. Take it from someone who knows - I once got into a broken bottle fight on that damn bridge at 2am(it was about 4 years ago). There wasn't anybody else around, except the little bastard and me. I came out of it with nothing more than a bloody elbow. I still always walk to the Zona over the bridge during the day, and up until about 9pm on weekdays, and 11pm on weekends. I also walk back over the bridge after 4:30am(the rateros are out of commission by then), and only IF the taxi drivers quote too much money(indicating there are too many cars at the border). My feeling is that the most dangerous time is between 11pm and 4am. The rateros have had a taste of the booze/sniff, have run out of money, and are looking for more hootch by rolling a drunk gringo.
