Perhaps some parallels can be drawn between what may happen here and the Nevada prostitution message boards, which seem to have gone thru pretty much the same evolutionary process that the TJ boards are. The only differences that I see are that the Nevada boards started earlier, may progress thru their time line faster (due to technology being available earlier to the Nevada gals and the lack of language problems). Every time that I have seen an issue come up on the TJ boards for the first time, I remember back to when the same thing was an issue on the Nevada message boards. And invariably the results are similar. As guys became aware that some of the Nevada ladies were reading their posts, the information guys posted about specific gals, what they did, and how much they paid changed. Just like on Redsnake, and now here. Once the Nevada gals started openly participating, things changed even more. We are still in the phase here where the TJ gals generally hide their knowledge about the boards and the Net. Yet I know that I am not the only one exchanging email with gals I met at Adelitas or the Chicago Club. As Matiz suggested, being in a service oriented business having people exchange information about you is going to make many people nervous. One clear way to lessen that concern is to become involved in the exchange of information. I have known more than one chica that monitored what was said on these boards. They currently seem to decide to handle it in one of three ways: 1 - Ignore it. As one chica said to me "Anybody can say anything they want there. That doesn't make it true." 2 - Try to deal with it behind the scenes, or thru some of the guys. This has happened more than we generally acknowledge, I think. 3 - Stay away from "those Internet guys". Many chicas are taking this approach. And the final approach, that has worked fairly well for many Nevada gals but hasn't been seen here yet is, start posting openly on the message boards and become a known quantity. I am still convinced that a couple of smart TJ gals, with a decent grasp of English, could have made a killing by participating and using the Net to their advantage. Maybe that could still happen, but I suspect that the time when they would be welcomed with open arms has past - due to the general paranoia that exists around here nowdays. A few of the TJ gals have made significant amounts of money based on their popularity on the Net. Sophia, Paloma, Tania, Dulce, and others come to mind. But none of them ever really participated directly beyond interacting with the guys.
There are almost exactly the same "factions" here as in the Nevada group. There are maybe a few more guys here who are after quick and/or cheap sex than in the Nevada group. I believe that is due, in part anyway, to the relative numbers of guys closer to TJ than to the brothels in Nevada. (IE: the TJ guys often have lower sunk costs in getting to TJ than the Nevada guys do in traveling to Reno.) Overall, the trend on the Nevada boards has been towards less and less "hard" information, more general chatty posts, many more people hiding their identities, and more participation by a number of the working ladies. I suspect we will see the same here.
