Maybe no one on this board's been paying attention, but its well known in Mexico that Fox is a VERY conservative and religious man, and that many in Mexico, while voting for him, were concerned by how this would effect his policies. In the short term I doubt there will be any major changes in Tj, however before he leaves office I wouldn't be surprised if there's an attempt to clean up Tijuana. Sure there's been prostitution in the Zona for as long as anyone here can remember, but Mexico has had the same corrupt political party in power for over sixty years and has benefitted from all the illegal markets. Also as prostitution is illegal, although allowed by the local authorities to operate in the open, it would be much easier to clean up (at least on the surface) then an underground market such as drugs. In addition, Fox wanting a closer relationship to Washington will want to impress Bush (another conservative) with the efforts he's making to clean up Mexico. At least thats my 2 cents. On the plus side though, a measure just passed that would allow trucks from Mexico unfettered access to our highways, thereby making it easier to smuggle chicas over the boarder.
