Re: the fired waitresses: I'll say it again, they were pretty lazy. If you wanna see what happens when a club gets over-run with meseros check out Miami and try to fend them off. BTW, that's where most of the CC meseras ended up.

Re: the waiter getting tricky on you, join the club. Generosity in tipping is something that is often taken advantage of in TJ rather than appreciated. My response to someone stacking quarters like that would be to not tip the guy to make a point. But that's me, and my waiter relations skills aren't the best, to put it mildly.

I had an amigo that is in TJ as much as anyone I know get scammed for a cheese plate at Tropical a week ago. His sin? Paying too much attention to his chica and not enough to the slimeball waiter -- a perfectly natural thing to do, but never wonder where all your money went at the end of the night.

Re: Business being slow... Do chicas ever do anything BUT complain about not having enough bidness? You mentioned how Thursday night was extremely busy, and supposedly 1/2 the Navy just returned from 6 mos. at sea in the last week and suposedly hit the Zona hard. You'd think there'd be opportunities there for a motivated girl.

Re: the CC expansion: I am in general agreement with your amazement at the conduct of business in Mexico, but there are remarkable exceptions to be found within the Zona Norte. The Hong Kong wall took two days to come down, and the work was done while Miami next door was open. La Tropa was opened in record time, and I swear they built that hotel atop La Tropa in less than 90 days. The Cascadas expansion also was completed incredibly quickly and with minimal impact on the operation of the clubs. The Tropical/Miami/HK/Chavelas/La Tropa people know how to get stuff done, and CC apparently does things the more traditional way. Of course on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, there's the Eskandall place next to Tropical, where the hotel was in substantially the same shape as it is now since at least 1998, the bar was being prepped all last summer and the place STILL hasn't opened.

It was good to see you again this past week and I hope TJ treated you well.
