...of the women I have gotten to know well enough to ever discuss their future, half had plans of some kind (although often vague and/or unrealistic) and half lived pretty much for the moment. And all that is assuming they were telling me the truth. (The number I have known well enough to really trust what they have told me can be counted on one hand.) I have known several who would look at the older gals working in the bar and tell me "I will never be like that", meaning that they planned to get out before they got to that age. But the money comes easy working the bars. It can be a trap, to get used to having a big income, and spending freely. Many of the same gals I mention above are still working, because they have fallen into this trap. Others have told me that they know one day life will be hard, but that they will be able to look back on the days they made (and spent) big bucks and lived the fancy life. And that this is something many others will never experience.
